Meet Eileen Galang - Whole Child Supports Specialist

As the School Climate Support Specialist at Northwest Georgia RESA, Eileen Galang is dedicated to fostering resilient, relationship-driven learning environments. She empowers educators with proactive evidence-based frameworks—such as Sources of Strength and The Regulated Classroom—to enhance both staff and student wellbeing within a Whole Child, Whole School, and Whole Community MTSS model.

Eileen also co-leads the school sector for Georgia’s Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Collaborative and advocates for youth in foster care as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer.

With a rich background as a primary grades teacher, elementary school counselor, K–12 ESOL educator, and higher-education instructor, Eileen leverages her diverse experience to drive meaningful systemic change, ensuring every student feels safe, seen, and truly supported.

Northwest Georgia RESA Time Machine

Date: April 25, 1994

NWGA RESA held the Open House for our current office on April 25, 1994. More than 140 guests attended, representing school districts, business and community partners, board of education members, state and local elected officials, and RESA staff. Governor Zell Miller was present and spoke at the event.

Over the 32 years we have been in our current facility and nearly 60 years as an organization, the services we have offered have changed, but our mission has not. We are here to Equip, Empower, and Serve the educators of Northwest Georgia.

We’re proud to see several districts represented at our recent professional learning session, Literacy Essentials for Administrators, presented by Kim Freedman from Paulding County School District!

Elementary administrators engaged in practical learning and walked away with valuable information to support literacy implementation, such as:

• Georgia literacy requirements, such as screening, tiered reading plans, and progress monitoring
• Characteristics of dyslexia
• Standards-first planning and the effective use of HQIM
• Science of Reading foundations and research-based instructional practices

Thank you to all of the educators who joined us and are committed to strengthening literacy outcomes for students across Georgia!
