Model High School is pleased to announce that Athletic Director Mike House has been recognized by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) as the Region 6A D1 Athletic Director of the Year.

Mr. House was selected for the honor by a vote of his peers within the region, recognizing his administrative service and contributions during the 2025-2026 academic year. The Region Athletic Director of the Year award highlights a professional’s commitment to GHSA administrative protocols, consistent participation in regional governance, and the logistical coordination of region-level tournaments and events.

“The role of an Athletic Director requires extensive behind-the-scenes coordination and attention to detail,” said Model High School Principal Kevin Strickland. “We appreciate Mr. House’s work representing our athletic programs at the region level throughout the year.”

The GHSA utilizes this annual award to recognize individuals who demonstrate the organizational skills and dedication necessary to manage the complexities of modern high school athletics.

Mr. House will be formally recognized alongside other regional honorees at the state level later this year.
