Exploring innovation beneath the surface! 🌊🤖

Last week, Chadwick Ocean Institute Ambassadors took part in the celebration of the launch of the Los Angeles Waterfront STEM Network, alongside LA Mayor Karen Bass, educators and community partners.

Chadwick students spent the day at AltaSea, getting hands-on with underwater robotics and exploring STEM opportunities within Los Angeles’ growing blue economy.

This program highlights the unique opportunities for Chadwick students to engage with the community while demonstrating how they learn both inside and outside a traditional classroom setting.

We’re so proud to see our students connecting with community leaders, sharing their passion for our oceans 🌊 and helping shape the future of STEM and ocean education in LA.

Congratulations are in order! 🎉📚

Please join us in celebrating the 28 Chadwick seniors who have earned recognition in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Among this impressive group, 22 students have been named Commended Students, while six have advanced to Semifinalist status. Remarkably, this marks the second consecutive year that Chadwick has celebrated 22 Commended Students and six semifinalists.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation recognizes academically talented high school students across the country for their outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT.

Recently, Chadwick sixth graders embarked on their annual adventure to the Catalina Island Marine Institute (CIMI), where they spent the week learning, exploring and creating priceless memories together.

Throughout their time on the island, students participated in a variety of exciting activities, including kayaking, snorkeling, rock climbing and more, all while taking in the scenic beauty of Catalina. Beyond the adventures and new experiences, the week gave our sixth graders an incredible opportunity to strengthen friendships, build confidenceand grow as a group.

The memories and moments shared by our sixers at CIMI are ones they will carry with them throughout the rest of the school year and beyond!

Our Middle and Upper School parents stepped into the classroom for an immersive Back-to-School Night!

Families experienced a day in the life of their students by following their daily schedules, connecting with educators, diving into course overviews, and getting hands-on with interactive science labs and class projects.

A huge thank-you to everyone who attended and helped launch another incredible year of learning. We are so grateful for our vibrant community!

Chadwick parents, faculty, staff, alumni and trustees gathered at the South Coast Botanic Garden this morning for the annual Chadwick Parents Association (CPA) Fall Brunch. Head of School Jessica Donovan shared how Chadwick’s approach to education cultivates curiosity, one of the most essential ingredients for deep learning.

New CPA President Caroline Payne spoke on how being present in our community has impacted her family’s life, and urged everyone to get involved! Whether through grade-level support, Friends of the Library, the Booster Club, the Limelighters or the CPA, every moment matters.

Parents/caregivers became the students for K–5 Back-to-School Night!

Our parent community gathered on campus this Tuesday to connect with division leaders, meet classroom teachers and curriculum specialists, and even jump into sample classroom activities to see learning in action firsthand.

Every afternoon, our Upper School shifts gears, giving students dedicated space to expand their horizons outside the traditional school day. The purpose of this time is simple: to give students space to explore new passions, collaborate and build real-world skills — whether they’re creating, competing, performing, leading or serving our broader community.

From AI to podcasting, sports broadcasting to robotics, theater and community service, our students spent the past week diving into an incredible range of offerings. Ever wondered what goes into creating the perfect backpack? 🎒

Our seventh- and eighth-grade students in “Design Thinking Ventures” spent the afternoon interviewing faculty across campus to learn about their everyday bag struggles — from wanting better weight distribution to needing different sized pockets for laptops, pens and water bottles.

Next up, they’ll use those insights to design and build physical prototypes of unique, user-friendly backpacks from scratch! 🛠️
