This is an amazing resource for parents who speak other languages to participate in IEP meetings! Great job Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council! Please share with families you may know.
"I've had a translator in my IEP meetings, but they didn't understand the process or terms any better than I did. I felt excluded from the decisions being made about my own child." -Mom of 2 children on IEPs
The National Association of Educational Translators and Interpreters of Spoken Language (Naetisl) partnered with Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council (MODDC) for a 3-year grant opportunity to create what is now known as the largest repository of language access for special education resources in the nation! The website with this information is free to use, contains hundreds of special education terms in various languages, and even includes translated fact sheets/audio/videos about educational rights/laws/etc.
Thank you, MODDC and NAETISL for this meaningful work that will help families across Missouri who may have had limited resources in this area.
