A lot of resumes read more like job descriptions than highlight reels. If you only list your tasks, you’ll blend in with other applicants instead of standing out.

Here are three simple ways to change that.
1. Focus on facts, not just duties. For example, instead of saying "Served drinks and took orders," try "Turned tables five times a night for an extra thousand in sales." Numbers help tell your story better than adjectives.

2. Tailor your resume for each job. Keep a master copy, then use tools like ChatGPT or Claude, along with the job description, to make small changes that fit the role. Always check the results and never lie on your resume.

3. Use AI to help you find gaps. Share your resume and the job description, then ask what’s missing. You might discover old skills, tools, or achievements you forgot about.
Try one of these tips on your resume tonight. Even small changes can turn a resume that gets ignored into one that gets a callback.

Steps to Take to Find Your Dream Job Today!

1. Write down what excites you.
2. Write down what you want in a job.
3. Give both lists and your resume to an AI tool.
4. Check company career pages for the roles AI suggests.
5. Reach out to a recruiter or hiring manager before you apply.
It's simple, not always easy, but worth it.

Job Offer, Next Day

I did this entire process with my son. AI matched his interests to several companies, including a toy store.
He went in, introduced himself, and talked about his skills.
He got a job offer the very next day.
That's what happens when you are specific instead of applying blindly.

Don't Just Apply. Reach Out.

If you've found the right company, don't just submit your application and wait. Look for a recruiter or hiring manager on LinkedIn and send them a message: "Hi, I'm [name]. I have strong skills in X, and I know you do Y. Could we talk?" This way, your name is on their radar before your resume even reaches them.
