January! 04/03/2019

The month of January was full of wintry fun!! We go to make our own patterns when learning all about how patterns are formed and practicing on winter animal patterns. We measured how many snowballs tall different winter items are and documented our own findings!

Our sensory bin was full of fluffy white "snow" and the children got to create winter scenes and build snowmen. Our winter math play-doh mats had us creating and counting out numbers 1-20 when with had to follow the directions to know how many snowballs to make.We practiced following step by step directions when we drew our guided drawing penguins! The children loved this activity!

We used our polar bear cards to help us work on one-to-one correspondence by matching the numbers, correct number of dots and the correct number of fingers to each card.

The children had a surprise sensory experience when one child and mom allowed us to borrow their bin of snow! The children cooperated with each other so nicely during this activity. They also got to paint with colored ice cubes to what sort of pictures they could draw!

And, so much more!! January was quite the busy month!

December 01/11/2019

December was such busy month! We decorated our classroom with a felt tree and a 4ft tree! The felt tree was fun because we could decorate it over and over again, changing the look of it each time. We made gingerbread play dough and used cookie cutters to shape it into gingerbread boy and girl, trees, candy canes and stockings! Our sneaky elf made us mini donuts and left us ingredients to make our own donuts. We had pajama day with hot cocoa and we made reindeer! Our sensory bin was filled with all we needed to build our own Christmas tree. We celebrated Hanukkah too! We "lit" our menorah and played dreidel. We ate latkes and matzah with cream cheese and matzah ball soup.

We made our jingle bell bracelets and delivered "special packages" to each other. We practiced our "Ww" writing and using the W sound. We also counted and graphed holiday items. We made lots of ornaments for our trees at home and even made special ornaments for presents for our families.

We played store because we knew we were going to be having our holiday feasts.

So much learning took place this month.

November! 01/11/2019

We celebrated thanksgiving by making our hand turkeys with feathers and googly eyes! We practiced letters by matching the upper case letters to the lower case letters and adding the turkeys to the fence. We strengthened our fine motor skills by tearing tissue paper and gluing them to on paper to make Thanksgiving place mats. We practiced same and different on worksheets. One of the children's favorite activities was searching for letters in our sensory bin, that was filled with dried corn, peas, beans and peppers! We wrote some words of items that we find around Thanksgiving. We fixed a pretend plate using our Thanksgiving foods cards.

Family 01/11/2019

Our unit on family had us learning to write words that are in our family! We completed our story about "My Family"! We took great care of our babies by feeding them, giving them baths and taking them our for a walk. We put together our family puzzles and counted our family members. What a week of fun and learning!

Literacy 01/11/2019

The children can learn about literacy during any activity! Here they used the letter "Hh" play dough mat to make Horses and Hippos. Later in the day, they helped to create an "Hh" word list!

Fine motor practice 01/11/2019

The children were practicing their cutting skills!

Science! 01/10/2019

We made Ornaments for Christmas presents for our families! We mixed cinnamon and applesauce to make this dough and then used candy cane, gingerbread man, snowman and tree cookie cutters to form the ornaments. We used the left over dough to make beads! We had fun and our school smelled delicious!
