We are otter-ly excited to share this week's WLW with you all!🦦

The spotlight is on the North American River Otter found along the Copeland Creek Corridor on the Sonoma State campus!

River otters prefer natural habitats with unpolluted water and minimal human disturbance. They are known for living in riparian zones, typically alongside streams, rivers, lakes, ponds, and marshes.🏞️ Adult river otters can weigh between 10 and 33 pounds and be 2.5 to 5 feet long!

Did you know that when river otters feel frightened, they utter a scream that can be heard up to 1.5 miles across the water? Isn't that fascinating?!😱

CEI is going feral... for pigs! Oink! 🐽

This week’s star of the show are feral pigs at the Galbreath Wildlands Preserve in Mendocino County!⛰️ The trail footage captured a herd of pigs strolling by at this beautiful site.✨

Did you know that feral pigs are found in 56 of the 58 counties in California? They live in a variety of habitats, including woodland, chaparral, meadow, and grasslands!

However, feral pigs are not native species. They cause damage to our native plants and animals resulting in disrupted habitats, soil erosion, and additional ecological damage. 👎
