Clerical Correction: 2026–2027 RRSD35 School Calendar

A clerical correction has been made to the 2026–2027 RRSD35 School Calendar.

Our district websites have been updated with the final calendar, and we are also sharing it through our social media channels and with our community partners. Please use this version moving forward and replace any previously saved or printed versions.

Specific change made: We have corrected the November District-Wide Conferences to their original board-approved dates of November 9 & 10, 2026.

Community is Everything ❤️

I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible community for coming together during the Fielder Fire.

Thank you to the amazing firefighters who responded so quickly and worked tirelessly to keep our families, homes, and community safe. Your courage, professionalism, and dedication did not go unnoticed.

Thank you to the power line workers who stepped up to assist with evacuations and support residents during a difficult and uncertain time.

A special thank you to our dedicated Rogue River School District Board of Directors. Even while some board members were facing evacuations themselves, they supported response efforts by providing space on their properties for command centers and helicopters. Their commitment to serving our community, even in the midst of personal challenges, exemplifies true leadership.

To our neighboring superintendents who immediately reached out asking, “How can we help?” thank you for your partnership, kindness, and willingness to support our district when it mattered most.

And to the wonderful people who make up this community, thank you for checking on neighbors, offering assistance, sharing resources, and caring for one another. In challenging times, we see the very best in people, and that spirit was on full display throughout this event.

It is truly an honor to serve and be part of such an amazing, resilient, and compassionate community.

Yesterday, as I was leaving work with Rogue River School District, the Fielder Mountain Fire was just beginning to take hold. I’m including a couple photos taken from the District Office during those early moments.

When I reached the four-way intersection leading out of some of our more rural areas, I was the first vehicle stopped. I ended up sitting there for more than half an hour, and it gave me a firsthand view of something I really wanted to share with our community.

Power company crews were already in the area doing routine work when the situation began to change. I watched them immediately shift gears and start helping with traffic. Their priority was clearly getting people out of the fire area and off the highway. They moved lanes as needed, held my lane in place, and kept adjusting as conditions changed.

What struck me most was how calm they were. A couple of drivers were understandably upset because they had just come off the highway and couldn't see what was happening ahead of them. The crews handled those moments with patience too. They knew what those drivers couldn't yet know.

Living here, we all understand why fire in our rural areas is so concerning. We have steep mountains, narrow valleys, winding roads, and places where there simply aren't many ways in or out. When you see smoke beginning to fill the sky over a place you know and love, it's hard not to feel that in your stomach.

And I have to say, there is no sound quite like hearing those helicopter blades overhead when a fire is burning near your community. You hear them and know someone is up there fighting for the people below.

I only saw one small part of a much bigger response yesterday, but what I saw made me incredibly grateful.

To those power crews who happened to be there and stepped up when our neighbors needed help, thank you. And to the firefighters, aviation crews, law enforcement, dispatchers, emergency personnel and everyone else working this fire, thank you for taking care of our community.

Sometimes you get an unexpected reminder of just how many good people are out there looking out for one another.

Yesterday was one of those days.

Summer learning is in full swing at Rogue River School District!

Our students are enjoying hands-on activities, literacy learning, new friendships, and plenty of summer fun. We're so excited to provide this free opportunity for our incoming K–12 students, complete with meals, transportation, and all supplies included.
