📸 Shout out to Lily, a talented SAS Hellbender who made waves at the University of Arkansas School of Art Summer Arts Workshop!

Lily dove headfirst into photography and proved that the best opportunities can come from unexpected places.

As one of the youngest attendees in the program, Lily’s talent and creativity stood out alongside a talented group of high school seniors, showcasing her ability to create work well beyond her years.

After such a fantastic experience, Lily says she can’t wait to apply again next summer. We love seeing our Hellbenders discover new passions, explore their creativity, and take on exciting opportunities.

The SAS Cheerleaders showed up and showed out at cheer camp this summer.

Congratulations to the team for earning a red ribbon for their sideline performance!

🏅In the Motions competition, Adam and Alessandra earned blue ribbons, Brooklyn and Ella were finalists, and Ella took home a medal.

🇺🇲Our athletes auditioned for All American Cheer and we are excited to congratulate Breea on earning the title of All American Cheerleader!

🎸It's not a Mr. Trickey feature without a little music!

For Chapter 5 in our SAS Summer Stacks series, we tracked down Mr. Trickey! He shared the reads and the tunes that are defining his summer.

"I've been on a big Yacht Rock kick this summer and my most played album recently is Steely Dan's Katy Lied. The perfect album for any occasion! For books, I try to have a fiction and a nonfiction book going at the same time. Right now for fiction I'm reading Fools Errand by Robin Hobb, the 7th volume in her Realm of the Elderlings series. Fantasy is my favorite genre, and Hobb writes some of my favorite characters I've ever read. For nonfiction, I'm digging in to St. Augustine's Confessions."

📚 Chapter 4 in SAS Summer Stacks features Tech Brice!

What does a school IT professional and computer science teacher read over the summer? If you guessed a mix of sci-fi classics and trending contemporary sci-fi releases, you'd be correct!

"I recently finished Do Android's Dream of Electric Sheep. I'm really interested in classic sci-fi that grapples with the themes of AI and the intersection of technology and the human condition. I'll probably tackle Neuromancer next. And of course for fun I'm trying to finish Dungeon Crawler Carl!"

📚 Chapter 3 in our SAS Summer Stack Series: Mrs. Foust!

According to Mrs. Foust, when it comes to summer reading, even "the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry." Here's what she had to say!

"I had planned to read several highly anticipated new releases over the summer. As with all my best laid plans, I promptly threw it in the trash when something shinier came along. That shiny thing was Lonesome Dove. I enjoy classic literature and I never believed that westerns could be classics. After hearing so many folks warn against sleeping on this book, I knew I had to jump. I'm halfway through and glad I took the leap!"
