Childhood has a language all its own—the language of curiosity, imagination, discovery, connection, and joy. At Woodland Academy, we speak the language of childhood by creating a place where children are encouraged to:

✨ Learn through meaningful experiences
✨ Play with purpose
✨ Wonder and ask questions
✨ Explore nature and their world
✨ Be nurtured by loving teachers
✨ Grow in knowledge, confidence, character, and faith

Our Christian, Reggio-inspired program offers more than childcare. It provides a beautiful, intentional childhood where every child is known, valued, and loved.

Limited openings are available for infants through Pre-K. Message us today to learn more or schedule a private tour!

Many homes keep a screen or music playing in the background all day. It can feel harmless because nobody is actively watching. Yet constant noise gives the brain very few chances to experience quiet and recover from ongoing stimulation.

Silence is not empty for the brain. Quiet moments help attention reset, thoughts organize, and emotions settle. They also train the mind to ignore distractions. Without enough quiet time, filtering sounds and staying focused can become harder over time.

Background audio keeps part of the brain alert. Even when ignored, changing voices, beats, and sudden sounds can pull attention in small ways. These repeated interruptions may create restlessness, shorter focus, and a constant need for fresh stimulation during tasks.

Children can be especially sensitive because their attention systems are still developing. If noise is always present, deep play, reading, problem solving, and imagination may become more difficult. The mind learns to expect input instead of creating focus from within.

Parents can help by building quiet spaces into the day. Turn devices off when not needed, lower noise during play, and protect moments without media. Silence is not missing something. It is where attention, calm, and deeper thinking grow strongest.

We couldn't agree more. Because of her philosophy and the training our founder has received over the years, children at Woodland experience this daily.

Magda Ge**er, an early childhood educator and founder of the Resources for Infant Educarers, (or "Educaring"), believed deeply in respectful, child-led development from the very beginning of life.

She reminded us that nature is one of the richest environments for learning—even for the youngest children. From shifting light and fresh air to the smallest movements of birds and insects, the outdoors offers meaningful, sensory experiences that help children adapt, grow stronger, and connect with the world around them.

Congratulations to our founder, Cheryl Starek, for completing CLASS observer training. This will allow our founder to assist our teachers. Once she completes the required assessment calibration, it will allow her complete required observation assessments at facilities throughout Arkansas that receive federal and state funds.

3 days of intense training to become Infant and toddler CLASS observers, 3 days of learning. Thank you to all of those who attended.

Mama...you are doing just fine!

I was just telling a story today about a field trip and one of my kids. Lol! We all have those moments and then they become memories.

We are all going to make it. Is it hard some days? Yes! Are we here to support you and your family in this journey we call life? You bet!
