Dolly Parton was a hero to the liibrary world. In 1995, Dolly started the Imagination Library after watching her own father struggle with illiteracy. This early childhood literacy program has brought over 270 million free books to children 5 and under.

In the early '90s, she told students in her home county that she would personally pay them $500 if they graduated high school and the drop out rate decreased from 35% to 6%.

She won the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy in 2022 and never stopped giving.

Thank you, Dolly, for all that you've done. Read a book today in her honor.
