Madeline Chambers Freriks ‘10
Cross Country, Track & Field

Madeline was a standout runner on the cross country and track & field teams during her time at Magnificat. She played a pivotal role in propelling the cross country team to state championships in 2008 and 2009. Individually, Madeline dominated the 1600m in track and captured back-to-back state championships in 2009 and 2010. She was recognized by The Plain Dealer as the Cross Country Runner of the Year in 2009 and the 2009-2010 Gatorade Ohio Girls Cross Country Runner of the Year.

Darlene Sheehan Neitzel ‘91
Basketball

Darlene was a dedicated member of the basketball team who guided the team to a Final Four appearance in 1990 and then, as a team captain, to the state championship game in 1991. She earned an honorable mention during her junior year and was named third team All-Cuyahoga County during her senior year.

Betsy Norris Zelasko ‘03
Gymnastics

Betsy was a distinguished student-athlete who served as team captain on the gymnastics team. Her leadership and talent were vital in securing state championships in 2002 and 2003. Individually, Betsy earned All-State honors and finished as the 2001 Ohio state runner-up in the individual all-around competition. Additionally, she was named a Winter Sports All-Star Athlete by The Plain Dealer, and 2003 Student Athlete of the Year.

Stephanie Haas ‘12
Basketball

As a three-year letter winner averaging 19.7 points and nearly three assists a game on the basketball team, Stephanie Haas helped lead the Blue Streaks to a 20-4 record and a Division I District Championship. Her outstanding play earned her All-Ohio Special Mention, First Team All-District honors, Third Team All-Ohio Selection, and recognition as The Plain Dealer Player of the Week.

Like Magnificat, Lourdes Academy was founded by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary. Each year Lourdes alumnae gather on our campus for their All-Class Reunion to reconnect and celebrate their school pride, including singing their pep song!

Congratulations to Allyson Liller '26 for being one of the recipients of the 2026 Lorraine Dodero STEM Scholarship! Ally will soon begin her freshman year at the University of Notre Dame.
