Modern Food F*cks with Your Head
That bag of Doritos wasn’t made to fill you up.
It was made to keep you eating.
It’s a sneaky bastard...the perfect mix of salt, fat, crunch, and flavor dust designed to make you think:
“I’ll just have a few.”
Okay bro. 👌🏻
One handful → half the bag → bag gone → questioning your entire existence.
This isn’t because you’re weak (okay…maybe a little).
These foods are engineered to hijack your brain.
The official term is hyperpalatable, which is just science-speak for: You’re f*cked before you even open the bag.
What about those “snack-size” bags?
Cute idea… if you can restrain yourself.
But what usually happens?
One bag → two → five → gone.
Yeah. It’s like that sometimes.
The Fix?
It’s definitely not “more willpower.”
You can’t out-willpower the food industry.
Trying to beat Doritos with discipline is like bringing a pool noodle to a sword fight.
So instead of trying to “be strong,” change the setup.
Build Systems (Not Guilt)
Make good food stupid easy:
- Keep fruit washed and ready.
- Chop veggies ahead of time.
- Stock quick proteins: eggs, tuna, Greek yogurt, rotisserie chicken.
- Prep once, eat for days.
Cook a pack of chicken, lean beef, or turkey.
Bake salmon if you’re feeling bougie.
Roast a big tray of veggies (they reheat in 30 seconds.)
Hard-boil a bunch of eggs.
Batch cook carbs: rice, potatoes, lentils, quinoa.
Crockpot stuff.
Air fryer everything.
Make Healthy Just as Fast as Junk
Junk wins because it’s instant.
So make healthy options just as quick:
• Microwave frozen veggies in 4 minutes.
• Greek yogurt + fruit.
• Protein shake in 30 seconds.
• Shredded chicken in a low-carb wrap.
Your brain defaults to whatever is easiest so make healthy the easy choice.
This isn’t just “discipline.”
You need to rig the game back in your favor.
👉 More food that grows or walks.
👉 Less stuff cooked up in a lab by guys in white coats.
Systems > self-control.
That’s how you win.
