💙💛 Thank you, Linda Davis & the Smith’s Pavilion team!

Rocky Mount Rotary Club had the pleasure of holding a recent meeting at Smith’s Pavilion of Dortches, where Linda Davis welcomed our members and shared more about this beautiful local event venue.

After the presentation, Linda took us behind the scenes for a tour of the property, including the bridal suite, groom’s room, and event spaces.

Thank you to Linda and her entire team for the warm hospitality and for giving our members an opportunity to learn more about this special place in our community! 👏

💙💛 Rotary’s Fundraising Initiative: Local Support. Lasting Impact.

Throughout the year, Rocky Mount Rotary Club President Jet Hatu will be visiting local businesses and inviting them to help support our mission by donating an item or service.

🎁 Donated prizes will be featured at Rotary meetings.
🔨 Members will have the opportunity to bid during a live auction.
💙 All proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club Foundation and help support our community service efforts.

It’s a fun way to bring our members and local businesses together while raising funds that can be put right back into serving our community.

A huge THANK YOU to the local businesses and community partners who support Rocky Mount Rotary. Your generosity helps make what we do possible!

Support Rotary. Support Our Community.

Leading With Purpose: Dr. Lew Hunnicutt at Nash Community College, spoke to our club today.

Dr. Lew Hunnicutt has served as Nash Community College’s fifth president since Nov. 1, 2019. Before joining NCC, he was assistant provost and Griffin Campus director at the University of Georgia and spent more than 12 years as vice president at Frank Phillips College in the Texas Panhandle.

A Texas native, Hunnicutt holds multiple degrees in agriculture and animal science from Tarleton State University, New Mexico State University and the University of Wyoming. His late father often joked that he had “more degrees than a thermometer.”

Hunnicutt began his career as an assistant professor of agriculture at McNeese State University and later at Southwest Texas State University. He continued teaching until moving into administration in 2015 and says education remains his passion.

Throughout his career, Hunnicutt has been active in community service, holding leadership roles with Rotary International, United Way, 4‑H, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, Communities in Schools and various city and county boards.

Hunnicutt encourages the community to visit Nash Community College and says he hopes visitors will stop by and say hello when they do.

💙💛 In Loving Memory of Dolly Parton | 1946–2026

Today, the Rocky Mount Rotary Club joins people around the world in remembering the extraordinary life and legacy of Dolly Parton, who passed away yesterday at the age of 80.

Dolly will forever be remembered for her music, her unmistakable personality, and the joy she brought to generations—but her legacy reached far beyond the stage.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she dedicated herself to putting books into the hands of young children and inspiring a lifelong love of reading. That mission also created a special connection with Rotary, as Rotary clubs and districts partnered with the Imagination Library to help expand access to books for children and families.

For Rotarians, her story is a beautiful reminder of what Service Above Self can look like: using your gifts, your influence, and your heart to make life a little better for someone else. 📚❤️

Her songs will continue to be sung. Her stories will continue to be told. And every child who discovers a love of reading because a book arrived in their hands carries a small piece of her legacy forward.

Thank you, Dolly, for dreaming big—and for helping millions of children dream big, too.

You will always be remembered. 💙💛

District Education Director spoke to our Rocky Mount club today.

Sherri Williams was born and raised in North Carolina and has lived all across the state throughout her life. Her studies at UNC Pembroke were in special education. There, she worked with a wide range of students—from those with physical and mental disabilities to those identified as gifted.

Williams moved to Rocky Mount in 1982 and has built a diverse career across several industries, including food service, banking, trucking and the relocation industry. In 2012, she began working in senior housing.

Williams has served as a property manager for both HUD (Housing and Urban Development) and LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs. Later, she transitioned into sales and marketing with an international company specializing in independent senior living.

Fourteen months into the COVID-19 pandemic, she joined Brookdale Senior Living in Rocky Mount as the sales & marketing/admitting director. Williams is also a co-founder of the Health Care Networking Group, a collaborative organization made up of professionals from skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, rehab centers, hospitals, hospice organizations, physician offices and other home care companies.

She is an active member of the local Women’s Professional Networking Group and the Red Oak Area Rotary Club, where she recently served as President for the 2025–2026 term. She is now Rotary's District Education Director. Williams is a Paul Harris Fellow and a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI), where she has also completed training to become a facilitator.
