Sontag Elementary School is located in the rural community of Sontag just south of Rocky Mount, Virginia. Sontag Elementary has joined schools throughout the state of Virginia in facing the challenges of meeting academic standards. We have initiated many changes in our instructional practices through the years. As a result, our students have demonstrated remarkable improvement each year in our cam

paign to become an accredited school in Virginia. We are proud of the efforts of our parents, students, volunteers, and staff as we continue to develop methods that will help our students succeed. Our instructional program is centered on the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs). Our objectives reflect those of the State Department of Education in daily instruction, homework assignments, and field trips We are committed to ensuring a sound education for the students who enter our doors and encouraging them to pursue interests that help them develop good citizenry and increased academic strength.
