🌟 Early Childhood Excellence! 🌟

The kiddos in Mrs. Easterling’s and Ms. Robins’ class are working hard while having fun learning their letters!

Today, they played a fun game called Freeze & Trace! 🎶 The students danced to some fun Halloween music, and when the music stopped, they headed to a table to trace a letter. Once they finished tracing, it was back to the carpet for more dancing!

Today, they practiced tracing the letters M, D, S, and A! ✏️

What a fun way to combine movement, music, and learning! These little learners got to move, groove, and build their letter-writing skills all at the same time!

Learning is always more fun when you get to dance along the way! 💛

Bringing a little magic to Kindergarten today: 🪄✨Mrs. Maddy’s Kindergartners read the book “Witch & Wombat” and in the story the main character so badly wants a cat as a pet, but ends up with a wombat instead, & the story follows their journey of friendship. This Kinder crew, used there segmenting and encoding skills to write what pet they wish they could have (like the main character in the story), and then used their “magical potion” and a magic bean (aka a sponge animal that expands in water) to reveal what pet they actually got! 😉 Afterwards they segmented and wrote down the sounds they heard in their actual given pet and gave it a setting/background! Great way to incorporate segmenting, writing, review settings, and mix in with some magic of the season! 🪄✨

☁️🎨 Mrs. Lorton’s PreK class learned all about the sky above us! 🌤️🌈

📖 We listened to the story Sky Color and then used watercolor paints 🎨🖌️ to create our very own pictures of the sky! The children learned that the sky is not always blue—it can be filled with so many beautiful colors! 🌅💜🩷🧡💙

✏️ Before painting, the children also practiced multiple pre-writing strokes using black markers, building those important early writing and fine motor skills! 🖍️👏

What a fun day of learning, creativity, and exploration! 🌟☁️🎨

✨ Dress for Success Day! ✨

Today, our 5th graders kicked off our first Dress for Success Day as part of our Guys in Ties & Girls in Pearls program!

A very special THANK YOU to Ms. Anitra Holland and Mr. Jamie Wright for spending time with our students and leading an inspiring conversation about leadership, confidence, and success. We are so grateful for community members who invest their time and encouragement in our Hawks! 💙💛

Our 5th graders looked amazing as they dressed for success and stepped into this leadership opportunity with pride. We are excited to continue this special program throughout the year and help our students build the skills and confidence they need for a bright future!

🏐💙💛 Two weeks of Lee M. Waid Girls Volleyball in the books!!

Last week, we worked on passing, and this week, we added setting! We’ve had lots of practice, fun games, and a few volleyballs flying all over the place! 😂🏐

These girls have been working hard, learning new skills, and having lots of fun along the way! Can’t wait for another week of volleyball! 💙💛🏐

🍉The report is… WE WON!!!! 🍉

These 3rd graders measured and tracked this watermelon since the beginning of the school year and they finally got to enjoy the fruits of their labor today! The BFW (Big Friendly Watermelon) took 1st place in the Henry County Fair over the weekend and earned a big blue ribbon for us to display along with all of the data we collected this year as we watched it grow.

What an adventure it was to see this watermelon grow from an accidentally planted vine by the boiler room! A seed being tossed aside is what got it started, but careful care and attention is what kept it going. Everyone pitched in to save the vine and keep an eye on it so that it could grow and thrive. There’s certainly a lesson about cultivating plants, but maybe an even bigger lesson about caring for something that someone else might have tossed aside.

Now that the judging is done it was time for us to enjoy the sweet taste of victory!

Our wonderful Admin team treated our staff to hot and iced coffee from The Whole Bean Coffeehouse along with delicious donuts!
We are so thankful for an Admin team that goes the extra mile to make our staff feel appreciated and loved. 💕☕🍩
