🇺🇸Remembering September 11, 2001 & Flight 93

This week, our students had the incredible opportunity to learn about September 11, 2001, and the events surrounding **Flight 93** from people who experienced that day firsthand.

We are incredibly grateful to welcome special guests Dave Mapes, Pat Walsh, J.P. O’Connor, Vince Show, and Susan Clark, teachers and a student at Shanksville-Stonycreek School when Flight 93 went down just miles away.

We were also honored to welcome author Sally Musser Ziegler, who shared her book The Big Red Barn Speaks, helping bring the story and spirit of our community’s history to life for our students.

Thank you to each of you for sharing your experiences, your memories, and your stories with our students. Your willingness to speak about such a significant and difficult moment in our nation’s history helps ensure that the events of September 11, and the courage, unity, and selflessness that followed are never forgotten.

The Rockwood Area School District is now accepting sealed bids for our old soccer goals. The goals come as is with hardware and nets (not assembled or attached). If interested, please submit a sealed bid on the bid sheet. Bids will be accepted until October 19, 2026 at 11:00AM. The winning bidder will be responsible for pickup. We are incredibly grateful not only for your service and sacrifice, but also for taking the time to spend your morning with our students at Rockwood K-12. Your visit gave our students a special opportunity to learn, ask questions, and connect with those who serve our country.
