I'm intrigued by the evolving relationship between Moses and God in the Torah. I think it represents an amazing evolution in relationships over the course of the narrative. I'll be exploring this in two course I'll be teaching online for the Haberman Institute for Jewish Studies this year. Part one, focusing on the book of Exodus will begin on November 13. You can find more information at the link below. The classes will be recorded if the morning time doesn't work for you.

Registration is open for my next online class, Elijah - The Man, the Myth, the Legend.
At every seder and every brit milah, we invite the prophet Elijah to attend. Elijah has several unique qualities. While immortality is probably chief among them, giving rise to many of the texts we will study together, there is much more than that.
Elijah, as a miracle worker, is different from Moses, who always exhibited such great humility. Elijah is a bit of a show-off. He’s snarky. What we’ll see, especially as we move through the character development Elijah undergoes through periods of Jewish history, is a cleverness, a fairly distinctive sharpness, maybe even unique among characters we first meet in the Tanakh.
We will study Elijah’s roots in the Book of Kings, how rabbinic literature treats him, and how his character develops in folklore throughout the ages.
