Kalimah: Arabic Culture & Arts is where we learn to love and use Arabic! Interactive, hands-on, play-based, STEAM-infused learning is our specialty!

One Word; One World

The name "Kalimah" means "word" in Arabic. All it takes is one word! A word can make all the difference; it can shape history and the future. Kalimah Programs is your go-to space for all your Arabic language, culture, and arts needs. Whether you are starting with zero Arabic knowledge, or you are already at an advanced level, but need that extra mile to really speak it and put it all to good use, we are here to help!

Busy making a 3-course Arab meal, including dawali (stuffed grape leaves), Jiddo Yusef salad, and Ghrayef (Algerian appetizer and dessert). Fun hands-on culture-rich Arabic learning can also be practical and yummy!

Zain, a Kalimah graduate, is featured among First-Year University Awardees.

Zain’s Story: Speaking Arabic Was Only the Beginning

For Zain, a heritage learner of Arabic, the language was always close to home through family conversations, relatives abroad, Sunday school, summer programs, and community spaces. But when he began studying Arabic formally, he discovered new ways to use the language with confidence and purpose.

With support from QFI, Zain strengthened his reading, writing, grammar, and formal communication skills while pursuing a degree in Business Information Systems. Over time, Arabic became more than a connection to identity. It became a professional asset that could help him work across cultures, understand regional contexts, and build meaningful relationships in Arabic speaking business environments.

Zain’s journey shows that for heritage learners, speaking Arabic is only one part of a much larger path, one connected to education, career, service, and lifelong growth.

We are busy planning fun activities and researching content related to this year’s STEAM Arabic camp themes integrating culture and history of Sham, Yemen, and North Africa regions. With the Arab Café as our running theme, we will be rooting for the Algerian, Moroccan, Tunisian and other Arab teams competing in FIFA 2026 at our little Kalimah Café, so you are welcome to join us in-person for the games happening in July during our camp hours to order Arabic coffee and support our campers’ community service project in support of a children’s charity.
