Special education inclusion program for students with learning differences at Jewish day schools.

Sulam is an independent non-profit organization with its own teachers and administrative team, operating as a school program that is integrated within a larger Jewish day school environment to fulfill its inclusion goals and mandate. Sulam serves students in grades 1-12 at Berman Hebrew Academy and grades 1-5 at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School (Sulam@JDS) with learning differences that include ADHD, autism, language based learning disability, twice exceptional (gifted and talented, learning disabled), and related emotional disorders and intellectual disabilities. Sulam offers its students an innovative approach to education in an inclusive setting, and trains educators in a cutting-edge, research-based framework that elevates the Jewish educational experience and supports the diversity of all learners. We aim to broaden the intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual lives of students, their families, and the entire community.

Shabbat Shalom! From exciting moments to hands-on learning, it’s been a busy week filled with so much to celebrate!

The excitement was real in the upper school on Mission Choosing Day as we get ready for Israel!

In lower school One of our students completed his mitzvah chart over Sukkot and proudly earned a prize from Rabbi Meyers!

One of our upper school scientists were busy calculating the velocity of a ball traveling down a ramp.

Middle school students got creative with their Shuk project! And a little glimpse into our Electrical Repair elective, where students are learning practical, hands-on skills.

So many different ways to learn, grow, and shine. Shabbat Shalom!

When we look at our students, we see so much more than who they are today. We see all the possibilities of who they can become.

Future professionals- teachers, artists, entrepreneurs-the possibilities are endless.

And while we dream big for their futures, our greatest hope is about the people they’ll become along the way.

We hope they’ll be curious & kind. That they’ll have compassion for others. That they’ll stand up for what’s right and use their unique gifts to make a difference.

Because at the end of the day, what matters most isn’t just what you become, but who you are and what you stand for.

There’s room for everyone in our Sukkah.

At Sulam, inclusion means more than having a seat at the table it means being known, valued, supported, and truly belonging.

This Sukkot, we celebrate a community built for all different types of learners, where each student brings their own strengths, their own voice, and something uniquely theirs.

🐝🍯 WE DID IT! WE REACHED OUR $200,000 GOAL!

Our entire hive came together, and we’re buzzing with gratitude. How SWEET it is!

A very special thank you to our incredible Matching Donors and our Campaign Ambassadors, who pulled out all the stops. Every gift, every share, and every rally (or BUZZ 🐝) around Sulam helped make this possible.

Because of our community, we can continue providing the individualized support our students need to learn, grow, and thrive within their Jewish day school communities.

And the sweetness doesn’t have to stop here!

Our campaign page will remain open for a few more days, so there’s still time to give and make our hive even sweeter.

As we head into Shabbat and prepare for Yom Kippur, we wish our entire Sulam community Shabbat Shalom and G’mar Chatima Tova.
