We're pretty excited for our students to return next week. A highlight will be seeing how the Preschoolers like the brand new play equipment on their playground!

This summer, an interactive STEM station and play tunnel were added, along with a new rubberized "sport court" that will give them plenty of safe space to play outside.

🎨🏆 We’re celebrating rising 1st Grader, Brooke L., and her 1st Place ribbon at the 2026 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair!

Brooke entered the polar bear drawing she created in art class with our fabulous art teacher, Mrs. Chen-Main. Her adorable creation captured not only our hearts, but also the top ribbon in the Children (Ages 5–12) Pen and Ink category. Congratulations, Brooke!

🎭"Shakespeare was not for an age, but for all time!" - Shakespeare's friend and fellow playwright, Ben Johnson, 1623

Shakespeare has been part of the 8th grade curriculum at CES for over 45 years. This past academic year, our students traveled to the American Shakespeare Center in Staunton, VA for a matinee of "Romeo and Juliet" and a Talk Back experience with a selection of professional actors. Our students later took the stage at the Folger Secondary Shakespeare Festival in Washington, DC, and -- inspired by their class novel, "The Wednesday Wars" by Gary D. Schmidt -- performed selections from several Shakespeare plays.

We are very grateful to the Harry Chapin Foundation for their generous financial support of our Shakespeare curriculum and for helping make these unforgettable learning experiences possible!

We're back with another !

This summer, you can find former CES Cardinal, Sumie Yotsukura, on stage at Olney Theater absolutely slaying the role of Sibella in the Tony Award winning musical, "A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder."

CES Grants Program Director, Cyndy Mamalian, and Communications Director, Maggie Ramey, and their husbands recently went to see the show and were blown away by Sumie's talent and stage presence. They loved getting to say hi to her after the show! Sumie's father, Vince, also tells us that he has been to see the show with some friends from their CES days. Proof that CES has a heart for the arts!
