🧭 Parent Perspective: When the First Step Doesn’t Go as Planned

Sometimes, the first step isn’t the final destination. And that’s okay.

For many young adults, the first experience after high school—whether college, employment, or another path toward independence—can reveal things families didn’t know they needed to know.

Maybe academics, work responsibilities, social expectations, or life away from home proved more challenging than expected. Those experiences don’t have to be viewed as failures. They can be valuable information.

Join us for our next Parent Perspective webinar and hear from parents whose young adults experienced those first steps firsthand. They’ll share what they learned, what they wish they had known, and how their families approached the next chapter.

This conversation is about learning from experience, recognizing what a young adult needs, and finding a path forward that supports their goals and potential.

What comes next after high school?

For many families, that question comes with a mix of excitement, uncertainty, and a whole lot of other questions:
What will life look like after graduation? How much support will my young adult need? And how do we help them build independence without taking over?

Next Step CLE is a virtual conversation designed to help families begin answering those questions. We’ll explore how College Living Experience supports young adults as they transition into adulthood and develop the skills they need to build a more independent life—through four areas of support:

☀️ **A Summer of Service at CLE!**

This summer, CLE students and staff across Austin, Costa Mesa, Denver, Fort Lauderdale, Monterey, and Rockville contributed approximately **3,000 volunteer hours** to their local communities!

They supported food banks, animal rescues, libraries, museums, farms, senior communities, foster-youth organizations, environmental projects, and many other worthy causes.

We are incredibly proud of the time, energy, and heart our students and staff gave this summer. Thank you to our community partners for giving them so many meaningful opportunities to learn, contribute, and make a difference! 💚
