On March 27, the MCPS elected Board of Education met with representatives of the NAACP parent council. This important event allowed parents to hear directly from the school board, several of whom were newly elected. The School Board has important policy setting powers for the school system and is responsible for selecting and hiring the school superintendent, who serves renewable four year terms.
The evening was kicked off by a message from the Cheif of Staff for Superintendent Office to introduce the MCPS Local Accountability Model for 2019-2022.
After first introducing themselves, the BOE members sat individually at tables with groups of parents for a more intimate question and answer session. Once these were completed, the tables summarized their conversations to whole audience.
