It has been a challenging year, we hope everyone is staying safe! First off, we want to say thank you to all of you for making BeSTEM a success! We are thankful for your trust and support as we look towards another summer of inspired learning in 2021!
As things begin to open up, we are monitoring national, state, and local guidelines for how to open safely. Given the social nature of our camps (i.e. teamwork and collaboration), we are challenged by the need to keep campers separated from each other. They come to our camps not only for STEM learning, but also to build new friendships and discover new interests through shared hands-on experiences. We are exploring changes to our operations to provide campers with a fun and immersive experience this summer while also maintaining their safety. Currently the vaccine is not available to anyone under 16 and will not be a requirement for summer 2021. We are not mandating that staff be vaccinated, but encourage all eligible to get the vaccine.
We have finalized our 2021 schedule of camps for next summer and wanted you to be the first to know. For the upcoming 2021 summer, we are happy to announce that we will be running two camps simultaneously each week! After a year of learning from home, we know how important summer opportunities to learn, connect and socialize will be to kids.

We would like say a big THANK YOU to all of the young campers and their parents/guardians who made this summer such a tremendous success for us! We had a great time interacting, conversing, and teaching, some incredibly bright campers! We thoroughly enjoyed hosting these summer camps and can’t wait to do it again next summer!
Earlier we sent out our end of the summer surveys to attending parents. Please fill those out at your earliest convenience as they are of tremendous help to us! Additionally, one lucky family will win four passes to the Washington Wizards “Meet the Team Party” at the National Museum of African American History and Culture on Wednesday, October 16th!
Over the next several weeks we will be posting pictures and reviews of our camps as well as share information about next summer. We have some exciting announcements to share with you all!

Yesterday our spectacular campers presented the bridges that they had built throughout the week. All 6 bridges passed the 40 pound minimum, while 3 held over 200 pounds and for the first time ever we had a bridge that withstood over 300 pounds of force! We, along with the parents, were amazed and pleasantly surprised at the amazing work that the campers did this week!
