Last but not least, this week we're highlighting Cinthia Martinez! 😁

Cinthia began her ACES journey during her junior year at Paint Branch High School. Upon graduation, she followed the ACES Pathway beginning at Montgomery College and graduating with a Business AA degree. Now, as a student at the University of Maryland at the Universities at Shady Grove, she looks forward to earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing during the Spring.

Next up on our Introduction Series is Hanan Sinnokrot! 😁

Hanan has been in the ACES program since the end of her sophomore year of high school. She attended Rockville High School and graduated with an Associates in General Education STEM at Montgomery College on both the Rockville and Germantown Campus. She currently is a junior at University of Maryland, Baltimore County with a major in Social Work and a minor in Psychology. She is a proud first-generation college student coming from a refugee family, who is committed to giving back to the ACES community. She enjoys helping individuals achieve their goals and believes being a student worker will help guide her future profession as a social worker. Aside from being a full-time student and a student worker, she manages a small business as a lash technician.

Now introducing, Alisa Smeadly! 😁

Alisa is an Americorp VISTA volunteer. Her background includes workforce development and academic preparation for disadvantaged populations. She worked for nine years at a maximum security jail preparing inmates for release. Most recently Alisa was Site Director for a Second Chance Pell Grant program with a University partner. She is passionate about helping to empower men and women through education and employment. She earned her BS in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland.

Next up in our Staff Introduction Series is our ACES Talent Ready Coordinator, Alexis Cosby! 😁

Alexis is an education professional with years of experience serving underrepresented students. She is a proud first-generation college graduate coming from a low-income household, who is passionate about assisting other students in their journey to college degree attainment. As a high school and college student, Alexis was involved in a similar program to ACES to which she attributes most of her success.

Upon graduation, Alexis began working for Partnership for the Future as a College Access Coordinator, preparing students for success in college and in the workplace. In this role, she led personal and professional development workshops on topics including resume/cover letter writing, job/internship search, and finding your college fit. Prior to joining USG, she worked as an admissions counselor at Virginia Commonwealth University assisting prospective transfer students with the application process.

Alexis earned her Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University, Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management, and is currently pursuing her Master of Educational Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Next up in our Staff Introduction Series is Danielle Jordan! 😁

Danielle has worked over 9 years in high school, middle school, college, and TRIO Programs - supporting diverse student populations. Danielle joined ACES in August 2021 where she is providing career coaching and facilitating programming for ACES High School Students as one of the ACES Career Readiness Coordinators. She looks forward to assisting ACES students with preparing for their academic and career goals.

Prior to ACES, Danielle was a high school counselor serving students and their families at Albert Einstein High School. In that position, she provided academic, social-emotional, college, and career readiness support to students - including some in the ACES population. She has also served students in her counseling career in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Prince George’s County Public Schools.

Before her career in counseling, Danielle worked for Notre Dame of Maryland (NDMU), as an admissions counselor for the Women’s College. She also worked for 5 years in the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) Upward Bound Federal TRIO program. Danielle is a first-generation college graduate who earned her B.A. in Liberal Arts from NDMU and her M.S. in School Counseling at Johns Hopkins University. As a college student, Danielle also participated in a federally funded program called Project SPARK in undergrad that provided student support similar to the ACES pathway.

In her personal life, Danielle dedicates time volunteering for youth and community outreach organizations and programs. She enjoys walking and yoga, team building activities, attending art workshops, visiting museums, and spending time with friends and family.

Next up on our Staff Introduction Series is Freidricka Camille! 😁

Freidricka joins the USG team as an ACES Career Readiness Coordinator assisting high school students in recognizing their talents and personal strengths through career-readiness programming and a positive youth development approach. As a first-generation immigrant and the first in her family to attend college in the United States, Freidricka is excited to contribute to a program that empowers and enables young people to succeed in their college and career aspirations.

In 2014, she began working with underrepresented youth by facilitating career readiness curriculum and coordinating the job placement process for over 350 students at Don Bosco Cristo Rey High School’s Corporate Work Study Program. Most recently, she administered a college and career mentoring program for emerging adults ages 17-24 with Asian American LEAD, a non-profit serving under-resourced Asian American youth in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Before working with youth, Freidricka worked at the US Peace Corps Headquarters in Washington, DC supporting its international volunteer exchange programs in various administrative capacities.

Freidricka holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and is currently pursuing a Master of Education in Human Development.

In her free time, Freidricka enjoys painting, playing strategic board games (to name a few, Settlers of Catan, Near and Far, Tokaido, and Ticket to Ride), hiking, doing yoga, cooking, and taking care of a growing collection of house plants.
