I speak French, am learning Spanish and have a BA in English. I've lived in France and in Costa Rica. I sing, play a bit of piano and a bit more of the baritone ukulele. My great passion in language teaching is helping my students participate in conversations and discussions with the confidence that they will be understood.

Pronouncing R and L for the Japanese Speaker Learning English Japanese speakers: begin or continue your work on pronouncing the L and R sound in English in this three session workshop.
Did you know that "th," has two sounds in English (and occasionally one or who more). The "voiced," /th/ as in, "those," and the unvoiced, /th/ as in thought."

I am currently designing a pronunciation workshop for Japanese speakers. English has many, many more sounds than Japanese. And thus the many, many speaking challenges.
With each student I tutor, I make mental notes of the sounds and pronunciations I hear. I ask myself, "How can I help this person modify their pronunciation enough so they can feel confident to converse in English?" Why? Because conversation is how we truly learn a language. We are all babies when it comes to learning a language.
What sounds or words in English challenge you? th? ed? So many challenging sounds in English.
