Everyone enrolled in 4-H including our current members have been sent an email that includes information from our first Meeting on Tuesday March 10

Our first official training session with dogs will be on Thursday March 26 from 6-7 pm in the Commercial Building

Please don’t feed your dog before the meeting They will be nervous and we don’t want any upset tummies

Members need to bring the 2026 Vaccination paper for first time dogs This is a no exception rule If you don’t have your paper completed yet by a licensed veterinarian you may still attend the meeting so you can learn what you need to practice with your dog

When brining your dog be sure to have it on a 6 foot training leash appropriate for the size of your dog. Dogs can wear a flat buckle collar or martingale to class If you have a harness please bring it but do not have it on your dog for this first class We do not use prong or slip leads or other aversive devices in our training program

Treats bring treats so we can begin practicing some new skills right away Hot dogs cheese training treats even a toy whatever makes your dog happy!

🌼 Daisy May’s Shelter Saturdays Success Story 🌼

Daisy May is proof of what patience, persistence, and time can do. As a participant in our Shelter Dog Saturdays program, Daisy May showed us just how special she truly is.

From the start, she worked hard on her focus, recall, and sit, and she excelled. Each week, Daisy May grew more confident, more engaged, and more connected with her people. Her willingness to learn and her gentle spirit quickly made her a favorite of her trainer, Susan, who saw Daisy May’s potential shine brighter with every session.

Shelter Dog Saturdays gave Daisy May the chance to practice skills, build trust, and show who she really is beyond the kennel — a loving, eager, and capable dog ready for a family of her own.

And that patience paid off. 💗
Daisy May has now landed in her very own home, where she can continue to grow, learn, and be the very best dog she can be.

We couldn’t be prouder of this sweet girl and the journey that led her to her forever family.

✨ Congratulations, Daisy May — you are so loved. ✨

💘 Shelter Saturdays + Valentine Hearts 💘

Four of the sweet faces featured in our Valentine photo — Remi, Buddy, Milo, and Jamison — are proud participants in our Shelter Saturdays Program! 🐾❤️

These dogs aren’t just waiting for homes… they’re working for them.

✨ Last Sunday, Remi headed out on a Day Date with Susan, where he practiced his skills in a real-world setting at Tractor Supply Company. Remi showed us exactly who he is: calm, cool, collected, and ready to take on new environments like a pro. From loose-leash walking to meeting new people, he handled it all beautifully.

🐕 This Sunday, another Shelter Saturdays pup will get their turn to shine as Susan takes one of the dogs out for another Day Date — practicing manners, confidence, and adaptability beyond the shelter walls.

Programs like Shelter Saturdays help dogs build skills, confidence, and visibility — and help potential adopters see who these dogs really are outside a kennel.

💕 Roses are red, violets are blue…
These dogs are learning and growing — and could be headed home with you.

👉 Opt to Adopt this Valentine’s Day
Because love looks a lot like a leash, a heart, and a second chance. 🐾❤️

Shelter Saturdays are still on going January 17, 2026 was no different Bad thing it’s cold outside so we don’t get everything done Yet Sully Bowser Remi Milo Buddy Jamison Paisley Mason and Daisy Mae all got some much needed time with me! I met Brick and Annie and we played the game get the treat and name recognition which they did well with

Daisy and I spent a lot of time doing engage disengaging exercises Her recall strengthens with these exercises

As she worked on her focus I kept telling her as the wind picked up let’s picture ourselves on the beach….. she held a 30 second focus! Which is awesome as there were so many distractions outside

So if you are working outside with your dogs practice picturing the beach 🏖️ worked for Daisy Mae!
