Seven-week therapeutic watercolor painting course begin this Sunday, January 22. Seth Lester, course teacher, describes the course as follows:

This course will be based upon the color therapeutic indications given by Collot d'Herbois in her profound book “Light, Darkness, and Color in Painting Therapy”. I will introduce her ideas, and there will be adequate time for discussion and for questions.

If you are interested in wet-on-wet watercolor painting with beautiful and unexpected color combinations, then join us. Never painted? Not an issue; join us!

Don’t concern yourself with technique; I will assist you as needed. So leave your overly critical self somewhere else, and surrender to the healing power of color.

Treat yourself to some quiet Sunday afternoons immersed in the painting process.

All materials are provided, so just show up for our community painting experience.



Seth Lester attended Rhode Island School of Design and later studied Anthroposophically based artistic therapy and painting in England at Tobias School of Art. Since 1988 he has taught watercolor painting/therapy privately, at University College at Rockland (URock), and for Studies in Anthroposophy at Ashwood.

Time: Sunday afternoons, 2-4 p.m.

All are warmly welcome to join the MidCoast Anthroposophical Society Group (MASG) to celebrate the Holy Nights and the centenary of the burning of Rudolf Steiner's First Goetheanum on New Year's Eve, 1922-23. All gatherings will take place at the Michaelmas Library at the entrance of the Ashwood Campus. Please note times for specific dates. Tea and light refreshments will help us celebrate this festive season. Masks are suggested but not required.

Thursday, Dec 29, 4:00-5:30 pm. The lead-up to the fire (Steiner’s activities in 1922 and the opposition), the fire, and the aftermath (lectures and initiatives in 1923 Rudolf Steiner, Life and Work”, Vol 6, Peter Selg and other biographical sources). Read and discuss Steiner’s final lecture in the First Goetheanum on 12/31/1922 “Man and the World of Stars” Rudolf Steiner Archives: GA219.

Including a work packet - with the zoom link as well as lectures and artistic activities to prepare.



Tuesday, Jan 3, 1:30 - 3:00 pm. Transformation “out of the ashes,” in our lives personally and as anthroposophists. How do we understand/work with the burning of the Goetheanum so that it is not a mere historical event? We will also look at how Rudolf Steiner's Sculptural Group, The Representative of Humanity, bridges from the first Goetheanum into the future. If you have any readings or experiences around the Sculptural Group, you are welcome to share. We will do a scaled-down version of our Qualey/Stetson lead pouring. This is a German tradition of melting tin or wax and pouring it into water using the shapes for divining the future called ceromancy.
