Parent-Child classes meet on Tuesdays from 9:00–11:00 a.m. in six-week seasonal sessions. Each morning offers a gentle rhythm of play, song, movement, seasonal work, snack, outdoor time, and conversation for parents and caregivers.

Parent-Child classes support both young children and their families. In these early childhood years, warm relationships and steady rhythms help children feel secure, while parents and caregivers find connection, conversation, and a welcoming community around the shared work of family life.

Early Childhood Assistant & Extended Day Coordinator

Ashwood Waldorf School is seeking a warm, dependable, and collaborative person to join our Early Childhood program as an Early Childhood Assistant & Extended Day Coordinator for the 2026–27 school year.

This position combines work alongside our Early Childhood teachers during the school day with responsibility for creating a nurturing, well-organized Extended Day experience for young children in the afternoon.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, brings steadiness and initiative to a busy day, and works well as part of a collaborative team. Experience with young children is strongly preferred; familiarity with Waldorf education is welcome but not required.

Responsibilities include:
• Supporting teachers and children in our Early Childhood classrooms
• Helping with transitions, meals, rest, outdoor play, and daily classroom care
• Coordinating and leading the afternoon Extended Day program
• Creating a calm, warm, and engaging environment for children through the end of the day
• Communicating and collaborating with teachers, colleagues, and families
• Helping care for and maintain shared classroom and program spaces

We are looking for someone who is reliable, flexible, attentive to children, and able to take both direction and initiative.

Bravo to Ashwood’s Class 7–8 for their wonderful outdoor performance of Shakespeare’s As You Like It. Under the pines, the students brought the Forest of Arden to life with humor, heart, mistaken identities, and plenty of theatrical flair.

Shakespeare Under the Pines

Join Ashwood’s Class 7–8 this week for William Shakespeare’s "As You Like It," performed outdoors among the pines.

Mayhem reigns in the Forest of Arden as lovers find, lose, and find one another again. Will Orlando ever learn to write poetry? Will Rosalind’s disguise fool anyone? Will Touchstone the clown find true love? Will Jaques ever cheer up?

Come find out as passions flare, words weave magic, and good overcomes evil once more.

Thanks to for the write-up on our 4th grade student, Lowell, whose poster won the Secretary of State Poster and Essay Contest for his age group.

Lowell's work, "titled 'Oh, Pine Tree State’ depicted the history of economic development in Maine, from the lumber industry to the emergence of the rail system used to connect Maine’s rugged, rural terrain and its timber and other industries to Boston, establishing a vital trade link."

AUGUSTA, MAINE – There were more than 300 entries in the Secretary of State Poster and Essay Contests this year.
