Our classmate; Greg Caldwell passed away. I have few details other than Visitation is Tuesday 1:30pm to 3:00pm at the funeral home (Alvis Miller). Then funeral is at 4:00pm at Fairview Baptist Church.

Gayle Gazaway Shepherd, age 76, of Cartersville, GA, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022.

Gayle was born in Aragon, GA on December 12, 1946, a daughter of the late Edward Gazaway and the late Evelyn Hardin Gazaway. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Shepherd; and brother, Jerry Gazaway.

Survivors include her two sons, Todd (Amber) Shepherd and Trent (Kendal) Shepherd; nine grandchildren, Maranda Shepherd, Aidan Shepherd, David Shepherd, Caleb Bohannon, Caleb Carter, Grace Hall, Benjamin Shepherd, Kelsey Watters, and Kaylyn Caddell; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Carter, Jr., Kaylynn Carter, and Ruby Carter; two sisters, Sheila Grogan and June Demore; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Shepherd will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hills Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

With great remorse; I must post that our founder has passed; Gayle wanted this page I just set it up. She was a bright star that will continue to shine even after passing.

Iā€™ve put off posting this today but I lost my big Sis Gayle today she was found in her bed this morning..She hasnā€™t been happy since Bobby her husband passed away..They are now together againā€¦Please REMEMBER her sons,grandkids & my other sister June in your PRAYERS..She will be SORELY MISSED by ALL of US..

We have lost another classmate. Cherry Martin passed away today. I have sent flowers from our class. The arrangements are not completed today but she will be at Alvis Miller's Funeral Home. We have lost a total of 51 since we graduated.

Obituary for Mr. William Byron Nix, Sr.
Mr. William Byron Nix, Sr., age 74 of Cedartown, passed away Friday, December 25, 2020.

He was born October 13, 1946 in Floyd County, son of the late Woodrow Wilson Nix and the late Mildred Edwards Nix. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry Nix, John Nix and Aaron Nix.

He attended the First Baptist Church of Wedowee, AL and the First Baptist Church of Cedartown.

Mr. Nix began his teaching career in 1969, becoming Principal of Rockmart Junior High School, Rockmart High School, Rock Mills Junior High School in Roanoke, AL, retiring from Randolph County High School in Wedowee, AL.

He was a proud veteran having served his country for 25 years having attained the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in the National Guard from 1970-1977, United States Army Reserves 1977-1995 and served during Desert Storm in 1991.

Mr. Nix is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nancy Stephens Nix of Cedartown; daughter, Amy Jeanette Nix of Cedartown; son, William Byron (Billy) Nix, Jr. and his wife Maxine of Cape Coral, Florida.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Benefield and Mr. Britt Madden, Jr. officiating. Interment service will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors given by the Army National Guard and the American Legion Brown-Wright Post #12 Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 30, 2020 between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers: William B. Nix, Jr., Matthew Robinson, Lee Jolly, Toby Stitcher, Keith Cole and Darrell Stephens, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers: Charles Blaylock, Charles Harris, Michael Hall, Dan McBrayer, Kenneth Jolly and Joey Arnold.

Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, our staff is committed to taking care of our guests and families we serve. Please understand that we are limited by Federal, State and Local guidelines to 50 people in our building at a time. We also ask all guests and family members attending visitation and services to please wear a mask.

We lost another graduate today from the Class of 1964. Byron Nix did not recover from the Covid virus. I will post the arrangements when I find out more. Please keep his family in your prayers.

Byron is not doing well and he has been put on dialysis. He really needs our prayers!

Our classmate Byron Nix is at Floyd Medical Center due to Covid 19. I talked to his wife and he is doing some better. She said he would really like to hear from his classmates so please send him a card if you don't mind. His home address is 133 Virginia Circle Cedartown, Ga. 30125.
