How do we bridge the gap between our university and the local community? It all comes down to genuine relationships.

With more than 140 church partners across Northern California, we rely on intentional leadership to cultivate these connections. Director of Church Relations Jim Jessup doesn't just partner with regional pastors — he actively mentors our students.

Through his leadership in our Preaching Club, students are stepping out of the classroom and directly into local pulpits and worship teams. They are gaining real-world experience, conquering their public speaking fears and transforming into confident ministry leaders.

Happy National Aviation Week! ✈️ This week, we are excited to spotlight one of our amazing graduates, Kenzie.

Kenzie’s journey to the skies is a testament to trusting God's timing. She arrived at Jessup as a business major with no idea what she wanted to do, but God opened a door in aviation she just couldn’t turn down.

"Every time I hit a roadblock or wondered how something was going to work out, He always made a way," Kenzie says. "He’s taught me what it really looks like to trust Him, even when I couldn’t see the whole picture."

What made her time in the Jessup aviation program so special? The people. Kenzie says her professors spent hours mentoring her to ensure she felt encouraged, supported and challenged to grow. They cared about her as a student and as a person.

Now, Kenzie is stepping into a new chapter: returning to Jessup as a flight instructor to invest in the next generation of pilots.

If you feel called to the skies, take Kenzie's advice: "You don’t have to have everything figured out—just be willing to say yes and let God lead the way."

At just 24 years old, Cole Chambers had it all: a lucrative career in luxury auto sales, multiple homes and a fleet of vehicles. But when that carefully constructed life unraveled, he found a much greater calling.

Trading his possessions for a backpack and a Bible, Cole embarked on a cross-country journey that eventually led him to Jessup. Now pursuing a degree in Bible and theology, he brings the same drive he once used in the finance world to his studies, campus leadership and his new role as a pastor.

As we gear up for the fall semester, we are looking back at the incredible cultural exchange trip our students and staff took to China this summer! ✈️🇨🇳

From May 25 to June 7, the Jessup team experienced hands-on cultural immersion across Shanghai, Jiangxi, Dalian and Beijing. They explored thousands of years of rich history while also experiencing modern advancements! Our amazing students had so much to say about the journey.

Emma F. shared that the trip was an eye-opening experience where she felt so welcomed, adding that there is nothing like experiencing the unique blend of ancient and modern civilization.

Madeline R. said her favorite part of China was the people, noting that getting to form bonds with international friends is such a special experience and witnessing the historical sites we learn about in history class is unreal.

Olivia T. wrapped it up perfectly, saying she had the best time in China with her Jessup team, and from the friendships built, the places explored and the food shared, every moment was unforgettable.

"Great nurses don't just care for patients. Great nurses teach future nurses how to be great nurses." 🩺

Associate Professor of Nursing Holly Carlson brings more than 14 years of experience to her classroom. Overseeing over 130 nursing students, she teaches the ethical side of healthcare, focusing on resilience so our graduates have the emotional strength to serve with compassion day after day.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Dr. Carlson also recently earned her Doctor of Ministry with a project focused on building resilience in nurses!

What happens when an evening news anchor steps up to the whiteboard? 🎤

Last year, the newsroom moved into the classroom! We were thrilled to welcome KCRA 3 evening anchor Cecil Hannibal to teach our Journalism in the Digital World course. Instead of relying solely on textbooks, Cecil shaped the next generation of journalists using the real stories he covers and the people he met along the way.

Rooted in ethical reporting, Cecil reminds our students that journalism comes with moral obligation. "Even with breaking news, I would rather be right than first," he says. "We have to be accurate because it's what we're called to do as journalists."

For Jenelle Burdick, the start of a new school year brings a beautiful mix of excitement and gratitude. Her family has championed our campus for more than two decades. Her husband, Steve, volunteers with our golf program, and Jenelle co-leads our Women in Prayer ministry.

Having watched her oldest daughter graduate last spring, Jenelle is now preparing to send her younger daughter, Katya back for her junior year. She has loved watching Katya’s confidence blossom in the University Choir and Orchestra, seeing her build deep friendships in her Bible study group and celebrating her new role serving students who aged out of foster care.

As we get ready to welcome students back this fall, Jenelle's heart for our campus is a beautiful reminder of what makes our community so special.
