One of our favorite parts of Ann’s review: “This is an excellent way for kids to learn about functional health and how every system in the body is interconnected.”

Because that’s exactly what we want kids to understand.

Digestion doesn’t exist in its own little box.

Neither does blood sugar, nutrition, hydration, or the nervous system.

The body works together.

Wild Root’s Functional Nutrition curriculum helps kids and teens start seeing those connections and building a foundation they can carry with them as they grow.

“Chew your food.”

You’ve probably said it more times than you can count. But does your child know why?

Chewing helps break food down before it moves further through the digestive system.

In the Functional Nutrition curriculum, kids and teens learn the why behind everyday habits like:

- Being calm while eating
- Chewing food really well
- Staying hydrated

So the next time you remind your child to chew their food, turn it into a question:
“Do you know why chewing matters for digestion?”

Sometimes the reminders they hear every day become a lot more meaningful when they understand the reason behind them.

Digestion is one of the topics we cover in the Functional Nutrition curriculum. You can explore the curriculum by clicking here: https://wildrootlearning.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_content=post

Try this before dinner tonight:

Take a few slow, deep breaths together.

Then ask your child:

“How does your body feel right now?”

Wild Root’s Functional Nutrition curriculum explores the connection between the nervous system and digestion, including the “rest and digest” state.

Kids also learn simple things they can practice around mealtime, like minimizing distractions, eating somewhere calm and comfortable, and slowing down before they eat.

It’s a small experiment, but it gives your child a chance to notice something happening in their own body instead of only reading about it.

Digestion and the nervous system are both topics we cover in the Functional Nutrition curriculum.

Most of us learned the names of the digestive organs at some point. But understanding how the process actually works is different.

Why does digestion start before food reaches your stomach?

Why does chewing matter?

Why can being rushed or distracted around a meal make a difference?

Those are the kinds of connections that make the body feel less like a list of vocabulary words and more like something kids can actually understand.

Our Functional Nutrition curriculum gives kids and teens a chance to go deeper into what their bodies are doing and why. You can learn more about the curriculum by clicking here: https://wildrootlearning.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_content=post

I was told this by a mentor when questioning whether I should take the plunge to go back to school for nutrition.

I’d been navigating health issues like bloating, acne, brain fog, and imbalanced hormones since my teens. I hadn’t found truly helpful, lasting help in my 10+ years of trying to manage my symptoms.

But I also didn’t necessarily want to go back to school either. I love learning and continue to take courses, but something about someone keeping me accountable had me nervous.

I decided to do it though. And BOY am I glad I did.

I fixed those issues. I have steady, reliable health. If symptoms pop up, I know how to nourish myself and let them pass.

I also know that the info I learned during that time shouldn’t be reserved for practitioners. It’s fundamental, life-changing information that should be available to the masses just like literature, math, and physical education is at every school.

Every kid deserves to grow up knowing how to feel GOOD in their body. How to nourish their hormones as they grow. How their food can help their mental health. How to cook. How their environment impacts how they feel and interact with the world around them.

Kids deserve to have the knowledge that gives them freedom to do whatever it is they want in life because they’re healthy enough to do it.

So I teamed up with my partner, Amy, who had the same realizations I did, and we created a book that teaches kids the fundamentals of health so they can have as many freedoms available to them as possible.

This feels crazy to say, but let’s dive in:

Jacey and I spent over a year pouring everything we know about creating reliable, foundational health into a curriculum and now it helps kids understand their bodies better, fuel themselves adequately, and gives them confidence about making their own choices.

We’re getting messages from families saying its helped with:

✨their kids taking an interest in their health without mom having to encourage it

✨improving their child’s challenging eating behaviors

✨starting healthy habits their kids actually look forward to

Learning about your body and how to feel your best should be an integral part of any school experience, but most of all it should be FUN.

We also wanted it to be really accessible for any age so there’s versions for both younger and older kids. The link is in our bio🫶🏽
