Discovery Park has reopened after being closed due to flooding. The restrooms are currently closed. Portable restrooms will be delivered on Monday and will remain in place until the park's restrooms reopen.

What’s that sound I hear? It’s not a marching band, it’s a planetary parade! Six planets will be visible in the early morning sky just before dawn, so come join us to see them on the march! For those willing to get up early tomorrow morning Friday, August 22nd, you can join us from any time from 4-6 AM at Beals Point Day Use Area for a viewing of this special celestial event.

No RSVP necessary, but you will need good walking shoes and a flashlight to help navigate to the viewing location. Bring your own chairs, binoculars, coffee or snacks, and a light sweater for the early morning breeze!

P.S. For those avid stargazers who want to join in at a more reasonable hour, the seventh and final planet, Mars, should be visible in the night sky around 8:00 PM the night before.

Warm temps are on the way! We know the weather is warming up, but the American River is still VERY cold, and cold rivers are dangerous rivers! The American River fluctuates from the low to mid-50s this time of year. Know the risks and avoid cold shock and potential hypothermia.
