The Sierra College Career and Technical Education (CTE) Sustainable Agriculture Program offers a Skills Certificate in Sustainable Agriculture Business that is designed to give students small sustainable farm business management knowledge and abilities to successfully enter the workforce as a small farm owner or manager. This skills certificate focuses on skills and knowledge relative to the principles of agribusiness management, sustainable agriculture and direct farm marketing.

Challenging and satisfying, the Sierra College Fire Technology Program prepares students for careers in the fire service and provides educational and training opportunities for working firefighters.

The Associate Degree and Certificate programs incorporate the standardized Fire Technology curriculum identified by the offices of the California State Chancellor and State Fire Marshal. Elective courses are those developed under the guidelines of related fire service training and educational programs such as CFSTES (California Fire Service Training and Education System), DOT (Department of Transportation), FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), F.S.T.E.P. (Fire Service Training and Education Program) and NFA (National Fire Academy).

Students in the Sierra College CTE Fashion Program explore the importance of color in the new Skills Certificate, Fashion Design. This Certificate focuses on skills relative to the fields of fashion design, fashion consulting, alterations, wardrobe styling and personal shopping.

Students in the Sierra College CTE Mechatronics Program develop the skills to work in a wide range of industries, from heavy-equipment industries like lumber mills and ski resorts, through specialized high-tech industries like underwater robots and LCD displays screens, to high-volume manufacturing like the bottling and printing industries. The skills that students learn can be applied to almost any technical job, and by being cross-trained in electronics, mechanics and computer control, students have the wide-ranging technical skills to take ownership of problems and solve them.

Beyond basic technical training the program also teaches students many of the "soft-skills" needed to be successful in industry, which include instruction and experience in safe working practices, complete and accurate documentation, clean and organized work habits, written and verbal communication skills, teamwork and methodical troubleshooting methods.

The Sierra College CTE Geographic Information System (GIS) Program teaches students industry-standard software, GPS skills, database management and mapping design. The sequence of courses build upon each other to provide technical skills demanded in the industry, culminating with a professional map portfolio and repertoire of spatial analysis skills.

The Sierra College CTE Advanced Manufacturing Program gives students skills to design, build and manufacture in the Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machining courses held in the state-of-the-art machining center. Students learn the latest technologies and get exposure to the entire manufacturing industry. They also have the opportunity to explore computer modeling and design for technology applications on industry standard Haas machines.

Start a new career in the high demand building trades and construction industry in just 5 weeks! In the Sierra College CTE Construction Fundamentals MC3 Bootcamp gain essential skills interpreting trade calculations, taking exact measurements, blueprint reading, equipment and material handling, basic building and installation methods and practicing safety construction techniques according to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.

Program includes:
• Accelerated 5-week training program developed and approved by the Building Trades National Apprenticeship and Training Committee
• OSHA 10 certification
• Tuition-free, noncredit course series (BI 805, 806, 807, and BUS859) taught
by Sierra College faculty

The Sierra College CTE Nutrition and Fitness Certificate Program provides a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between food, physical fitness and health. Students develop the necessary skills for entry-level employment in health clubs and recreation centers. The certificate curriculum prepares students for the American Council on Exercise Personal Trainer Certification Exam, affording students greater employment opportunities as personal trainers, group fitness instructors and advanced fitness specialists.
