Mr. Lovejoy’s students took their learning outside today to explore how people have used the sun and shadows to find direction! Using a shadow compass, students got a hands-on look at how something as simple as a stick, its shadow, and a little patience can help determine direction—no GPS required!

We love seeing history and geography come to life beyond the textbook! 🌎☀️

📚🦋 Friday was a busy day in 2nd grade!

Our second graders wrapped up the week with lots of creativity! 📖 Students brought their summer reading to life with character presentations, sharing about the books and characters they explored over the summer.

Meanwhile, some very colorful butterflies needed a little help hiding from predators! 🦋 Students put their camouflage skills to the test, designing butterflies that could blend right into their surroundings.

From books and characters to butterflies and camouflage, there’s always something fun happening in 2nd grade! 💙🐾

Our 8th graders spent the day preparing for one of their most important roles yet—serving as the leaders of St. Mary Catholic School!

During our annual 8th Grade Leadership Day, students rotated through sessions designed to strengthen teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and the qualities that make someone a strong and positive leader.

This year’s sessions were led by Mrs. Altman, Mrs. Duffey, and Ms. Swartz, with former St. Mary teachers Mrs. Potchka and Mrs. Joyner also returning to lead activities and share their experiences with the students.

Leadership Day is about more than being the oldest students on campus. Our 8th graders have the opportunity to set the tone for our school, serve as role models for our younger Cougars, and show what it means to lead through their words, choices, faith, and actions.

We’re excited to watch the Class of 2027 step into that responsibility and make their final year at St. Mary one to remember!

Today, the St. Mary Catholic School staff had the opportunity to put our faith into action during our Staff Service Day. ❤️

Together, our teachers prepared more than 300 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Matthew’s Hope, helping provide meals to those in need in our community.

Thank you to our incredible faculty and staff for your generosity, teamwork, and willingness to make a difference. We are excited to carry this spirit of service into the new school year!

Our teachers had a wonderful day at the Brevard Catholic Schools Back to School Retreat at Holy Name of Jesus! 💙🙏

It was a beautiful opportunity to pray together, reflect on our shared mission, and prepare our hearts for the new school year. We are grateful for this time of faith, fellowship, and renewal as we get ready to welcome our students back to campus.

Please keep all of our Catholic school educators in your prayers as we begin another year of saying yes to God’s call to serve, teach, and love each child entrusted to our care.
