PREPPING FALL CLASSES (YOU KNOW THIS ALREADY!)
Middle Eastern Dance, also called Bellydancing, or, in Europe, La Danse Orientale, is native to the ancient Middle East. It was widely spread by migrations of Rom and other tribal peoples, from India, north to Turkey and west to Spain – with Egypt becoming a renowned center of the art form in modern times. In our global age, Cairo now hosts as well respected dancers from Asia, Europe and the USA. Bellydancing gives gentle, strengthening exercise to the whole body with an emphasis on the belly and thighs. The Adult Ed classes will introduce torso movements and rhythms fundamental to the art form. Students will try dancing with scarves and Veils! Wear loose, comfortable clothing or dance wear and please bring a large scarf for the hips!
