North River Collaborative

North River Collaborative North River Collaborative (NRC) is a multi-purpose, educational organization formed in 1976 to serve as an extension of school districts.

NRC is multi-purpose collaborative providing programs to over 200 students with disabilities ages 3 to 22 from our eight member districts and over 20 surrounding communities. The Collaborative provides over 800 students with educationally related services such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and English language instruction. NRC serves adolescents with socia

l/emotional disorders in at North River School, our alternative middle school/high school. Independence Academy serves students diagnosed with substance abuse and addiction disorders who are committed to recovery. North River Collaborative’s Southeast Transportation Network provides cost effective, quality transportation for students with special needs who attend some of the private special education programs in the greater Boston/Southeastern Massachusetts region. NRC also has a highly regarded Professional Development Program. NRC also coordinates the billing for Municipal Medicaid Reimbursement for participating member and non-member school districts. Throughout the year, Boston 25 News has highlighted the anniversary of the birth of modern special education. They elevated the voices of kids who are too often overlooked in the world, as well as their teachers. They also dove into some the challenges that persist for students with disabilities and their families.

All of this will culminate in an hour-long special Friday November 28th at 11am. It will be shared online as well and will get some additional runs throughout December.

“IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME”



Brendan and Connor are two students from North River Collaborative’s SAILS (Students Achieving Independent Living Skills) program. Currently in their internship with the Halifax Council on Aging every Thursday, Brendan and Connor perform maintenance services that build vocational skills and support the Halifax community. Working with Captain Brian Durgin from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office, they built welcome benches for members and guests. This wonderful collaboration could not have taken place without the support of COA Director Darlene Regan and her incredible staff.



Darlene Regan had this to say; “Connor and Brendon are amazing and a blessing for us. They brought so much happiness, and I believe in networking with other community partners. With that said, I wanted to share the great work Coach Laura and North River Collaborative bring to the communities.” This collaboration is a great example of the community working together to achieve something great!
