Join us for the “Live, Love, Latch! BYOBasket Picnic” 💕
Families will gather to celebrate, share experiences, and learn fun facts about lactation and human milk feeding 💖
This event will be held in partnership with the Rockland County Lactation Coalition 💝

I am so excited to be participating with such great organizations and local businesses ! There will be raffle giveaways as well as grand prizes for those that attend ! As a certified lactation counselor, I firmly believe that every mother deserves dedicated support and guidance throughout their pregnancy and postpartum experience. Hello Everyone !

As the month is coming to a close I wanted to share some reminders !

I will not be available for new consultations starting Friday 6/30 to Thursday 7/13 ! I apologize for any inconvenience. I am currently gearing up for a something big at the milk bank and cannot allot the time for home visits for those two weeks.

To my current pregnant mommies who are set to deliver during this time , game plan has been put into place , check your email!

To my current families : check ins will still be sent please don’t hesitate to reach out sooner if needed !

Hello and welcome, everyone! My name is Wilca and I am delighted to introduce myself to you. I am a certified lactation counselor and my passion lies in helping families with breastfeeding. I strongly believe that every mother has the right to access support and resources to help them succeed in their breastfeeding journey.

In addition to being a certified lactation counselor, I am also a Lab Supervisor (technician) at a Milk Bank that processes donor breast milk for babies in the NICU. This work is incredibly rewarding as I get to play a small part in ensuring that premature or sick babies receive the best possible nutrition to help them grow and thrive.

Through my work as a lactation counselor and lab technician, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience and look forward to growing with each family that entrusts me on their new journey!

✨ Maintaining your milk supply ✨

Whether you’re a first time mom or a vet, maintaining your milk supply is the top worry for moms. Here are ways to maintain your milk supply:

✨Nurse/pump frequently:milk production is a demand & supply process, it’s important to understand how milk is made - understanding this will help you to do the right things to increase production. The more demand (nursing more frequently) the higher the output.

✨ it’s important to nurse / pump between 8-12 times in 24 hours (find your magic number !) remember you want to remove more milk from the breast to signal your body to make more.

✨ Take care of mom : drink to thirst , eat nutritious foods, rest as much as possible, relax, sleep.

✨Make sure baby is nursing efficiency: work with a Lactation Counselor / IBCLC to make sure baby’s latch is good and deep.

Breastfeeding improves the health, survival and wellbeing of infants, children and their mothers. A public health approach to breastfeeding is needed to build back better systems! We need to ensure consistent messages to protect the breaastfeeding dyad . It is a shared responsibility to PROTECT, PROMOTE & SUPPORT breastfeeding to achieve sustainable development.
