Our Eagles showed up ready for the future!

We loved seeing our students dress like the career they dream of having one day! So many big dreams and future possibilities walking through the halls today! 💙💛✨

Last week, our WSS Eagles focused on the importance of kindness, connection, and belonging! 🦅

Our students:
💚 Wore GREEN to show their support for Start With Hello Week
💚 Learned about trusted adults they can turn to for help, support, or someone to listen
💚 Learned how their teachers can be trusted adults
💚 Took the Start With Hello Pledge and signed our schoolwide banner

We talked about the importance of saying hello, including others, making connections, and looking out for one another.

We’re proud to be building a WSS community where everyone belongs, everyone matters, and everyone is connected!

Students in Mrs. Staub's 4th and 5th grade classes have been working hard!

⭐️4th graders read nonfiction passages about rocks and minerals and completed collaborative stations to observe, investigate, and write about the properties of different rocks.

⭐️5th Graders used real world items to measure and find the volume for 3-dimensional figures. Students combined multiple boxes to create and find the volume of composite figures.

Great job, Eagles! 🦅💙⭐️

Today we’re celebrating the incredible Teacher Assistants who make such a difference at WSS! 💛💙⭐️

So much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but the impact you make is seen and felt every single day. You help our teachers, encourage our students, step in when you’re needed, and give so much of your time, patience, and heart to our school.

Our classrooms are better because you’re in them, and our students are better because of the love and support you give them. We are truly grateful for each of you and all the ways you help make WSS a special place to learn and grow. 🦅💙

Thank you for showing up, jumping in, and caring so deeply. We appreciate you more than you know! 💛

💚 WEAR GREEN WEDNESDAY, September 23rd! 💚

We’re asking everyone to wear green as a symbol of unity and solidarity with Sandy Hook Promise to celebrate Start with Hello Week.

Let’s show that we are a school community that supports one another, includes others, and helps everyone feel like they belong!

Last week in guidance, some of our 4th and 5th graders learned about the Power of YET! We talked about how it’s okay when something feels hard or we don’t know how to do it yet. With practice, patience, and perseverance, we can keep growing and learning!

We turned “I can’t do that” into “I can’t do that… YET!” 💪🦅💙⭐

Last week, our second graders learned all about hurricanes! How they form and the effects they can have on our environment. Students worked in teams to design and build houses that could withstand wind and rain! Using a fan and spray bottle, we put their designs to the test.

Some houses survived… and some definitely did NOT! But that’s where the learning happened! Students redesigned, problem-solved, and worked together to make their houses stronger. We are so proud of our Eagles for showing creativity, teamwork, perseverance, and problem-solving!

Way to go, Eagles! 💙🦅

Ms. Davis' first grade class put their physics hats on this week to explore force, speed, and direction! To bring these concepts to life, the students took on a STEM challenge: designing and building their very own marble run slides. Science in motion! Great job, Eagles!🦅💙⭐
