He surprised her by actually deciding to show and share his work for the first time. It was a good night.

Veterans Art Show to Shine Spotlight on Mental Health Awareness
Friday May 30th, 5–9 PM at Veterans Memorial Hall 211 N Main St Rockford, IL
This free public event will feature visual art, photography, sculpture, and mixed media works created by local veterans, all centered around the theme of mental health and the journey of healing. Through their work, veteran artists will share personal experiences, struggles, and triumphs, creating a space for conversation, connection, and understanding.
“Our goal is to honor the voices of Veterans and bring attention to the importance of mental health, especially within the Veteran Community,” said Theresa Criss-Amos, event organizer. “Art is a powerful tool for healing, and this show offers a way for our Veterans to be seen, heard, and celebrated
The evening will include an opportunity purchase some of the Veterans artwork and to meet the artists, while reading about their stories in letters addressed to attendees. Mental health resources and representatives from local support organizations will also be available on-site.
