Last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to participate in the IDA Public Library's Touch a Truck. We made green bean necklaces with the kids. Their summer theme is, "Plant A Seed, Read". We had fun with the kids and their parents!

On the second day of Summer Ag Institute we had speakers come to us at the Winnebago Boone Farm Bureau building. Thanks to Ed Mulholland of AHW Equipment who spoke about John Deere technology. Thanks, also, to Jeremy Doetch from Sweetwater Technology. He presented about drones and demonstrated one. Finally, in the afternoon, Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom presented some lessons that the teachers could use in their classrooms!

Summer Ag Institute was a success! It was two full days of go, go, go! Teachers learned about how agriculture is using AI, and other technology to make their operations better.

On the first day, we visited Baker Precision Planter in Orangeville. The teachers learned about how dangerous grain entrapment. They even trapped a teacher and the other teachers "rescued" her. They also have a robotic dairy.

Then we traveled to Arrow Meats. They spoke about how technology really increased their productivity. After that, we met with Dr. Bob from New Hope Vet Clinic. Finally, we wrapped up the day, Stephenson Service Company. Teachers learned how their big sprayers work and even got a chance to go inside.

Happy National Cheese Day! June Dairy Month started in 1937 as "National Milk Month". Grocer organizations and chain stores established the campaign to boost demand and distribute a surplus of milk during the warm summer months when cows were turned out to pasture.
