Summer is a great time to try new things! Fun fact: we have a GREAT voice teacher 🤩

Our faculty had such a great time participating in a hands-on improvisation workshop with Mike Block at the beautiful on Saturday.

He walked us through some practical exercises that we can give our students so that they can feel successful with improvisation.

The current exercise is playing 16th notes in the key of C with a metronome while incorporating 25% silence 🫠🤯

Mike Block is a Grammy-winning cellist, composer, and educator acclaimed for his “vital rich-hued solo playing.” A versatile multi-style artist, he is a member of Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble and known for playing standing up using his patented Block Cello Strap, which enables mobility.

He currently teaches at Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory.

Teaching idea: Rachel is working on straight bows with a 5 year old 🤩
