When they are this WACKY and TACKY, there is no other option than to declare the whole preschool the winners! The Spirit Trophy was awarded to all of preschool for their fun outfits yesterday!

Mrs. Jacob's Trailblazers hiked their way to the top and won the Spirit Trophy for having the best hats and socks yesterday!

Today we announced the first school spirit winner for crazy hair day on Monday. The winning class was Mrs. Heyerdahl’s 4th grade. We had so much fun seeing all the kids come to school yesterday with their crazy hair. Stay tuned to see who the winner for todays crazy hat & sock day will be.

Mrs. Heyerdahl’s class brought the CRAY to the Z for crazy hair day! That kind of spirit made them the first class to win the Spirit trophy today!

This morning in chapel Principal Nyberg kicked off the theme for the Lower Campus, S.T.O.R.I.E.S. Seeing The Omnipotent’s Reach In Everyday Surroundings. He talked about how Simon Peter in an every day moment, fishing, saw the power of who Jesus was and then Principal Nyberg shared a story of his own. This year we will be looking for those stories where we see God’s power on display in our own every day lives. Share your God stories with us throughout the school year.

Another fantastic day as we welcomed our PK/JK students to school for their first day this morning. We also had our first chapel of the year for the older kids where we sang some of our favorite worship songs and listened to a message from Principal Nyberg.

School is in full swing and it’s going to be a great year!

High temperatures are expected to continue for the next couple of days. We will be doing our best to keep all staff and kiddos cool!

Thats a wrap on the first day of the 2023–24 school year. What a great start as we welcomed our Kinder thru 4th grade students back today. The morning began with music, balloons, excitement, laughter, hugs and maybe a few tears were shed by the Mom’s as they left their kiddos behind. It’s going to be a great school year!

We can’t wait to welcome the PK & JK students and families as they come for their first day tomorrow.

Please join us in welcoming Courtney Morgan to our Early Childhood faculty! She and her family have been part of our Royal Lion community for several years, and we are so pleased she will be joining our team of PreK3 teachers!

Courtney graduated with her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri and has been a preschool teacher at St. Vincent de Paul in Chicago and in RPS. She earned her master's degree at Rockford University, as well as an additional 40 credit hours. Courtney and her husband have twin boys who attend Rockford Christian, and she has been an amazing substitute teacher in our Lower School classes. She loves spending time with her family, and this summer they have been busy with sporting events, family visiting from Texas, trips to the lake, and a trip out east. Courtney is excited for the next chapter at Rockford Christian and can't wait to get the year started!

Two very happy Royal Lions enjoyed an afternoon with Mrs. Hartzell, as part of our Show Your Heart virtual auction in the spring! Their teacher experience included a fantastic time at Flow Air Sports and delicious slushies! Thank you to Mrs. Hartzell for giving of her time and making great memories with our students!

These Early Childhood students had a fantastic time with Mrs. Hogan and Mrs. Letsinger, who recently hosted their Show Your Heart auction experience! Students enjoyed an afternoon of baking cookies and cooled off outside with popsicles and pool noodle planes. Such a sweet time together! Those are some big smiles! We're pleased to welcome Molly Anderson to our third grade faculty this year! Molly is a Rockford Christian alum and attended St. John’s University in New York where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology before going on to earn her master’s degree at Adler University in Chicago.

Molly has been living and teaching in Chicago for the past several years and was a substitute at our Lower School campus in various classrooms this past school year as she moved back to the Rockford area. She says, “This summer, I’ll be all over the place road-tripping, camping, spending time with my sisters, my nieces and nephew, and getting ready for a great school year in my new classroom! I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Royal Lion community again!”

We're excited to welcome Laurie Hemesath to our Royal Lion family! Laurie is joining our first grade team and has been teaching first grade for the last 11 years. She graduated from Maranatha Baptist Bible College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She then earned a Master of Teaching from Converse College.

Laurie loves spending time with her husband and their two sons, who will be attending Rockford Christian. This summer, her family has many trips planned, including a visit to the Creation Museum in Kentucky. Laurie says, “I am faith driven, which is why I am looking forward to teaching with other educators who are passionate about Christ-centered education. I can’t wait to start the new school year and meet everyone!”

We hope you had a fantastic 4th of July, Royal Lions! It's hard to believe in just a few short weeks the halls of our Lower School campus will once again be filled with the footsteps and laughter of students and staff! Preparations are underway for the 2023-24 school year, and we're excited to see what God is doing at Rockford Christian!

Just a reminder...our school offices will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. Have a fantastic 4th of July!

Mrs. Lentini hosted a “Let’s Make a Mess!” art party for our Show Your Heart virtual auction winners! Students had a blast creating explosive art, tie dye, and beautiful abstract canvases. They even helped create a special piece of “wearable” art for Mrs. Lentini to use next year! Amazing masterpieces, Royal Lion artists!!

Four lucky Royal Lions had a fantastic Frisbee golf outing with Mrs. Park and Mr. Hultman! Our teachers organized a fun experience for our Show Your Heart virtual auction, and the winner and a few friends enjoyed a great afternoon together! We love seeing the memories our teachers are creating with students!

Summer fun continues with another fantastic teacher experience! As part of this year's Show Your Heart virtual auction, Mrs. Davitt and Mrs. Mulder generously hosted a play date for four very excited Royal Lions. Their afternoon began with lunch at Tom & Jerry's, followed by miniature golf at Volcano Falls! A great time was had by all on this beautiful day!

Our students received PE and Math Olympics awards during our community chapel this week!
Twelve of our 3rd and 4th-grade students competed in ACSI Math Olympics, which provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their math skills in a competitive setting. Congratulations to all our students for their hard work and our students who placed!

Perseverance is what Mrs. Riley taught our students this year in P.E. From our 1st graders running the mile without walking to our fastest mile time of 7:09, our students persevered, and we are so proud of them!
