SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Addison Wheelock

Addison has been playing the viola for 7 years. Along with orchestra, she plays soccer for RHS and a club team. Outside of orchestra, she enjoys hanging out with friends and building with Legos.

Addison plans to attend Calumet College of St. Joseph to study kinesiology and play soccer. Her favorite orchestra memories include playing rock paper scissors behind the curtain at collage concerts, and her favorite pieces to perform were movie music!

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Journey Viau

Journey began playing the violin in 6th grade and has also played drums, ukulele, keyboard, and kalimba. She is a member of Alternative Strings and Digital Art Club. Outside of orchestra, she likes to listen to vinyl records with her mom, write poetry, and create songs. One of her greatest accomplishments this year was getting a poem of her own published.

Journey plans to attend Grand Rapids Community College for music recording technology. Her favorite orchestra memories include the New York and CMU trips, collage concerts, festivals, and solo & ensemble. Her favorite pieces to perform were Egyptian Legacy, Iditarod, or Rest.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Jenevieve Vega

Jenna started playing the violin in 6th grade and has been taking private lessons for the past 2 years. She played volleyball during 9th and 10th grade and was a part of Bible Study Club. Outside of orchestra, she likes to go for walks and also loves to bake.

Jenna plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study Applied Health Sciences and pursue a masters degree in Occupational Therapy. Her favorite orchestra memories were sectionals and the Florida trip, and her favorite pieces to perform were Swamp Thang and The Evil Eye and the Hideous Heart.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Levi Vande Wege

Levi has been playing the cello for 7 years and has managed to balance both choir and orchestra throughout a majority of his high school career. Outside of school Levi is a member of the Rockford Aces and plays for the varsity boys volleyball team. Levi enjoys spending his free time taking photos, being active, and all things music.

Levi plans to attend Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa to study music education. His favorite orchestra memories include bus rides to and from festival.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Josephine Sullivan

Joey started playing her instrument in 6th grade and performs with the school ensemble and often at church. She runs cross country and track, and outside of school she enjoys reading, babysitting, being outside, and spending time with family.

Joey plans to attend Grand Valley State University to study either pre-dental or speech pathology. Her favorite orchestra memory was the trip to CMU, and her favorite piece to perform was The Elements.

Claire started playing the violin in 6th grade and has played in the school orchestra since then. Outside of orchestra, Claire loves to play Dungeons & Dragons.

Claire plans to attend Grand Rapids Community College in the fall. Her favorite orchestra memory was when Mr. Pitcher told her that her hiccups were iconic, and her favorite piece to perform was Viva la Vida.

Aby has been playing the violin for 7 years. She enjoys ceramics and painting, along with photography- especially taking pictures of art and sculptures. She likes traveling and walking around botanical gardens.

Aby plans to attend Central Michigan University for English and Art Education. Her favorite orchestra memory was making new friends and meeting new people every year, and her favorite piece to perform was The Greatest Showman.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Ellsie Ritsema

Ellsie began playing the cello in 6th grade. She has played in the orchestras at St. Cecilia and RHS. She plays softball for RHS and Diamonds, and also helps coach. She has been a student athletic trainer for 3 years. She has been involved with RHS Bible Study and helps to lead Rockford’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Ellsie plans to attend Calvin University to major in kinesiology, minor in youth ministry, and play softball for the Knights. Her favorite orchestra memories include after concert Culver's runs or going to Florida with friends during freshman year. Her favorite pieces to perform were Conga del Fuego and Sonata No. 3 in A minor.

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Meera Raghunandan

Meera has played the violin since 6th grade and the guitar since 4th! She has been involved with karate and tennis and loves to go on runs/be active. She is NHS president, co-president of the Future Medical Leaders club, and a member of Interact club! Meera works at Parkside Early Development Center after school and spends most of her free time watching La La Land!

Meera will be attending the University of Michigan next year. Her favorite orchestra memory was the MASTA chamber music competition in 10th grade, and her favorite piece to perform was Adagio for Strings.
