We are so grateful to everyone who came out to the elementary campus yesterday to help us prepare for the new school year! From painting the PreK building to pulling weeds, mulching, mowing, and tackling all kinds of yard clean-up—so much was accomplished.
We had a record number of volunteers, and it was incredible to feel the support from so many of our families. Thank you for giving your time and energy to bless our school community—we couldn’t do it without you! 💜

Welcome Back, Howard Freudenberg!
Mr. Freudenberg first joined the Rockford Lutheran community in 1996, and we’re excited to welcome him back to teach High School Anatomy!
Outside the classroom, Howard is a father of two and a proud grandfather. He has also competed alongside his children in an IRONMAN relay—Howard completed the swimming portion while his children tackled the biking and running legs.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Freudenberg back to Rockford Lutheran! We’re grateful to have his experience, energy and familiar face returning to our classrooms.

During the workshop, Scout participated in a Chicago Bulls media team simulation and gained hands-on experience in writing, creating social media content and graphics, and producing a podcast. He also experienced life on a college campus while building valuable independence and time-management skills.
Way to make the most of your summer, Scout!

What does it mean to educate the whole student?
That question was at the heart of Dr. Alan Runge's recent conversation on WIFR's The Morning Blend.
At Rockford Lutheran, we believe education extends far beyond the classroom. Our goal is to prepare students academically, strengthen their faith, encourage them to discover their passions, and equip them for whatever God has planned next.
That commitment is reflected throughout our school community. Nearly 70% of our students participate in athletics, while many others pursue their interests through fine arts, student leadership, service opportunities, academic clubs, and more. Every experience is an opportunity to grow in confidence, character, and purpose.
We're grateful to WIFR for the opportunity to share the mission of Rockford Lutheran with our community. If you haven't seen the interview yet, we invite you to take a few minutes to watch it below.

For more than 16 years, Coach Tom Guse has been a leader, mentor, and integral part of the Rockford Lutheran family.
Since becoming head coach in 2010, Coach Guse has helped build one of the area's most respected basketball programs, leading the Crusaders to multiple regional and sectional championships and three IHSA State Tournament appearances. But his greatest legacy won't be measured by wins and banners. It will be found in the countless student-athletes he challenged, encouraged, and helped grow both on and off the court.
Coach Guse has represented Rockford Lutheran with integrity, passion, and a commitment to developing young men of character. His influence has left a lasting mark on our basketball program and our entire school community.
Coach Guse, thank you for your unwavering dedication to Rockford Lutheran over the past 16 seasons. We are grateful for your leadership and the legacy you leave behind. We wish you and your family God's richest blessings in this next chapter.
