The RPS 205 Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2024 was inducted last month. Thank you to more than 200 guests who joined the celebration of our inductees. Congratulations to Horace Box, Laurie Miller, Rick Schmitz, and the late Clarence Miller.

Attention RPS 205 Families: The Illinois State Board of Education has now added
Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) as a race for state reporting.
When you enrolled with the Rockford School District, you were asked to select your race from White, Asian, Black, Hispanic or 2+ races. We are offering families the opportunity to update their student’s race in the district’s records. Having accurate records helps RPS 205 identify supports and services for students. It’s not mandatory to change your race, but if you want to update it, you can. Please contact your school’s main office by Monday, November 4.

BACK TO SCHOOL: The first day of school for K-12 grades is Wednesday, August 28. Early Childhood schools start on Thursday, August 29. Below are the start and dismissal times for each school. Contact your school's main office if you have any questions.

RPS 205 Rockford Public Schools focuses on college and career readiness for its 28,800 students. The vision:

Four area school districts competed as guest bartenders at local restaurants to raise funds for the Golden Apple Foundation. Each team had to earn tips. Which district came out on top? RPS 205 did with more than $2,200! The event raised a total of $4,600 for teacher programs.

BEAT THE AUGUST RUSH! The Welcome Center is open all summer long.
Visit for: Enrollment K-12, Change of address, Zone transfer, ​​Administrative transfer, Special Program transfer, Alternative transportation​, & Student Records.

Alternate address stops may only be at daycares assigned to your school or babysitter addresses within the zone of the school students are attending if it is requested by the deadline (August 2nd) and must be more than 1.5 miles from their assigned school. Out-of-zone alternate stops are not granted.

Holiday observance:

The Welcome Center at the RPS 205 Administration Building will be closing at 4:30 p.m. today and will be closed on Friday, July 5. We will reopen for normal business hours on Monday, July 8. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

RPS 205 will compete in fundraising for the Golden Apple Foundation. We'll have guest bartenders @ Ernie's Midtown Pub, 1025 Fifth Ave., on Wed., July 17 from 4-7 p.m. There will be featured food & drink specials & special tip jars. See how well educators can shake things up!

Congressman Eric Sorensen visited Constance Lane Elementary to announce $1 Million he secured to replace the century-old 8th Avenue bridge over Keith Creek. Neighborhood students will be able to travel to school safely once the bridge is rebuilt thanks to this federal funding.
