RAAC Rockford Area Arts Council SPARK in the Park Showcase for Session One students was a great success!

This two-week camp introduced students to a variety of arts experiences with expert instruction from Marlen Hueramo, Ingrid Hyde and Mya Hernandez.

The students displayed their artwork and performed dance skills for families at today’s showcase at Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens!

Rockford Area Arts Council WIFR The Blend

🇲🇽 Spent time in Mexpan, Nayarit for the annual Fiestas Patronales
🤠 Purchased a belt ahead of the rodeo and had it cut to size
🖌️ Enjoyed fantastic murals around Mexpan and Ixtlan by Salvador Mota
🚶🏻‍♂️Walked with the callejoneada to hear stories and history about Mexpan
🫏 Followed the burra and musicians to celebrate throughout the town
🎨 Sipped coffee at PILONCILLO®️ and enjoyed murals by Alexis Samano

Discovery Center Museum SOMNIUM: The Book of the Hollow Earth

SPARK! SOMNIUM Art Camp Showcases Young Creative Talent

Riverfront Museum Park, Discovery Center, Rockford Art Museum and Rockford Dance Company proudly celebrated the culmination of the SPARK! SOMNIUM Art Camp on Wednesday. Hosted by the Rockford Area Arts Council at Sinnissippi Park, this intensive three-week creative apprenticeship provided young artists with the opportunity to work alongside professional artists and mentors in disciplines including muralism, animation, prop design, literature, and movement arts.

The program concluded with a showcase of the students’ inspiring work, highlighting their creativity, dedication, and artistic growth throughout the camp experience.

Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Riverfront Museum Park atrium to view the SPARK! SOMNIUM display and experience the incredible talent of these emerging artists.

The Rockford IceHogs and the Rockford Area Arts Council are looking for original designs for the 2026–27 Local Artist Hat Series. Three winning designs will be selected and transformed into exclusive hats distributed to fans during select games throughout the season.
