Rockford Day Nursery, a trusted non-profit learning center serving our community for over 100 years, is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. If you're passionate about early childhood education, community engagement, and making a lasting impact, we invite you to consider this rewarding opportunity.

As a Board Member, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of our organization. Your expertise, insights, and commitment will guide us in providing high-quality learning experiences to children in Rockford. Your responsibilities will include:

- Collaborating with fellow board members to set strategic goals and policies.
- Participating in regular board meetings to discuss progress and make informed decisions.
- Assisting with fundraising efforts and resource development to ensure sustainable growth.
- Advocating for early childhood education and building strong community partnerships.

Thank you to The Kiwanis Club of Rockford for hopping in for our weekly reading session with you! 🐰 🥚 💐We loved your special surprise delivery to the children from the Auburn Key Club and Marshall Builders Club! What a generous and kind group of kids to make Easter baskets and fill them with candy just for the children of RDN. Wow!! Thank you!! Happy spring and happy Easter to all! 🌼💗

Schools Closed: Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023 All RPS 205 schools are closed today, Thursday, Feb. 16, because of the anticipated severe weather. All after-school activities are canceled. ​​​​​​​The RPS 205 Administration Building (including the Welcome Center), Sterling Holley and Operations Support Center will be open.

The Teacher is responsible for the care and education of a group of children as part of a teaching team and functions as a team leader or co-leader. The teacher, with the active participation of other members of the teaching team, plans and implements curriculum, supervises children, assesses children's development, communicates with parents, and provides a safe and healthy environment for children.

The Teacher reports to the Executive Director, Assistant Director, and Program Coordinator.

General Licensing Requirements: Staff shall be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child's physical, intellectual, personal, emotional and social development.

Other Requirements:
1. Be at least 19 years of age.
2. Provide proof of educational achievement required for a teacher as outlined in Licensing Standards for Day Care Centers, Section 407.140.
3. Submit to a physical examination upon employment that includes a test for tuberculosis by the Mantoux method and every two years thereafter, or whenever communicable disease or illness is suspected
4. Provide three written references attesting to character and suitability to work in childcare.
5. Submit to a criminal background check and fingerprinting.
6. Become a mandated reporter under the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.
7. Participate in at least 20 clock hours of in-service training every year and in mandatory staff meetings and in-service training provided by the center.
8. Register for the Gateways to Opportunity Professional Development Record to document training activities for yourself, the center, DCFS and ExceleRate.
9. Follow all center policies.
10. Commit to having a shared goal of providing outstanding childcare services.

Physical Requirements of Job:
1. Prolonged standing and walking (frequent)
2. Repetitive motions requiring use of arms, hands and fingers (frequent)
3. Ability to work for extended periods of time (frequent)
4. Low level positions: squatting, kneeling and sitting on floor (frequent)
5. Ability to lift and carry children for daily care routines and evacuation (frequent)

The Administrative Assistant is to provide support to management and the organization through conducting and organizing administrative responsibilities and assigned financial tasks in a competent, timely, and efficient manner. The Administrative Assistant reports to the Executive Director and will perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Assist administrative and classroom staff with the enrollment of new children.
- Collect, update, and maintain documentation required by DCFS including, but not limited to: attendance records, health and immunization forms, food allergies.
- Assist parents and staff with applications for childcare assistance programs.
- Administer medication to children following licensing and organizational regulations and maintain an accurate record of the medications administered.
- Answer telephone in a professional manner, take messages and send appropriately, screen and direct calls and take and relay messages, provide information to callers about the organization, availability of services, adding to the waiting list, and enrollment requirements.
- Maintain security by admitting clients and other authorized persons into the childcare center, and help with the needs of clients and visitors in the reception area.
- Monitor the return of children from school and verify that absent students are accounted for. Maintain an accurate bus schedule at all times so that other staff can consult it as needed.
- Schedule appointments for management as needed.
- Classroom coverage as needed.
- Filing, and other office duties as needed.
- Open, organize and distribute mail daily.
-Receive payments from families.
