Now that the art shows are over, I wanted to share how proud I am of all the artists! Both nights were amazing and I’m so glad the kids got to share their hard work. Your support and encouragement mean so much to us!
I also wanted to send out a huge thank you to Ms. Cotter, Mrs. Dekuiper, the Cannonsbug PTC, the Belmont PTO, all the teachers and volunteers from both schools for making these nights such a success and so much fun!

The last couple weeks our artists have been busy exploring more materials in the art room! We’ve opened up our paint and dry sculpture studios. 1st-5th grades were challenged to build with paper or cardboard with only the use of scissors, no glue or tape allowed. They all met the challenge with an open mind and creativity!

Here’s a peek into our art studios! Students reviewed drawing and collage stations and 5th grade got to experiment with different ways to create with paint.

Another great week with these amazing artists!
1st-5th grades brainstormed how collage artists make their work and experimented with new materials and ideas. Collaging is a messy process but all classes did a fantastic job of using their tools and cleaning up for the next group.
Kinder artists tested out drawing materials and learned how artists use different lines to make art. They noticed how we all make art differently and that it’s something to celebrate.

Thanks for a wonderful first week back at school, Belmont & Cannonsburg! We made inquiries about how we can use drawing tools in new, exciting and unexpected ways. 2nd and 5th grades had a bonus art class and we practiced some visual thinking strategies.
It’s been a week where I have to pinch myself because I’m so lucky that I get to spend my days with such creative and kind kiddos!
