This week in Cultural Anthropology, students have been learning about traditions from the Inca Empire that are still practiced by modern Quechua and other Indigenous Peoples in Perú. Students completed an Object Based Learning Activity in which they examined modern Peruvian Textiles made from llama and alpaca wool, making cultural inferences and reflecting on how culture appears in daily life.
Students in Computer Graphic Design 1 & 2 created an abstract animated GIF using Adobe Photoshop’s Timeline and Frame Animation features. Through experimentation with movement, color interaction, opacity, shape, and spatial composition, developed an understanding of foundational motion graphic concepts while strengthening digital design skills. This was a build-up project before they move into learning about stop motion and creating their final project for the school year!

Painting 1 just wrapped up one of their first major color theory projects — creating a 12-color wheel using acrylic paint, but with one big challenge: make it anything but boring! 🎨✨
Throughout this project, students explored how color works and how we perceive it through concepts like color constancy, the visible light spectrum, and the relationships between primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. They practiced mixing accurate colors, creating smooth transitions, and applying strong craftsmanship skills through careful paint application and studio habits.
The results were creative, colorful, and full of personality. From imaginative designs to thoughtful compositions, students proved that even a traditional color wheel can become an original work of art. I’m so proud of the effort, creativity, and growth they showed throughout this project! - Ms. Spicer
